- About time... without electricity for whole week, 13 degrees F today and very cold the whole time. O'Connell has lost our vote.
- With many thousands still without power days after a major ice storm, here were NASHVILLE mayor O’Connell comments about being “not satisfied” with the performance of NES👇🏽 Full: www.instagram.com/reel/DULiX3Y...

- Look around, fellow Americans, is this the country your forbears envisioned, that you wish to live in?
- It is deeply disturbing, and a sign of the degree to which America has devolved (gun violence normalized), that ANYONE can view the new ICE video from Minnesota and think that the killing was justified. It is that simple.
- Public officials should be pointing out to the American public how much of their tax money (via BB bill) is going to funding ICE rather than basic social programs that help citizens.

- My older sister tells me I once ate here, Lundy's, a landmark restaurant in Sheepshead bay, as a small child. It was cavernous, an emblem of a much gentler, egalitarian, safer and prosperous USA--ie. before Trump (whose father was then a slum lord in that region)
- A memory of home from the very distant past at the start of a new year
- Time to stop using words like "childish" and "petty" to describe Trump's behavior... normalizes it, when the stakes are much higher, the actions narcissistic, delusional and very, very scary for the immediate future of the country
- New book, with a nice international mix of scholars, bridging history, literature and art history. Worked with wonderful colleagues.
- It is the guns, plain and simple
- It is about the guns... we cannot continue like this as a nation
- Reposted by caferroDear male White House reporters, The next time Trump insults one of your female colleagues, if one of you doesn’t interject and say “Excuse me, sir, but fuck you.” God is going to lose his mind. Regards, God
- It's not the rational or irrational fan, Stearns also gave away Nimmo, another core, popular Met, for nothing in return. Fans root for players synonymous with their team, and you can tweak a core rather than eliminate it with not apparent plan. The "process" did not work for the Sixers, PS
- Voted for Behn, but Harris, whom I otherwise like (and voted for), did not help coming through the state on a book tour in which she effectively auto-eliminated herself with personal gripes about her election that no one wants to hear.
- It’s Election Day in Tennessee, and we know: The power is with the people. If you live in Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District, head to IWillVote.com to make sure you know when and where to vote today.
- I suspect Aftyn Behn will lose today, because of bombardment of unhinged, negative ads by MAGA . Please, Democrats, point out in your messaging that "radical" and "dangerous" apply to the current government and the Republicans and it is plain for everyone to see.
- Please take note, those who support this man
- Democrats should take care with "affordability," a talking point originally of Trump and Maga. It is that and so much more, from blatant corruption to unhinged policies that threaten our very lives (see the CDC). Ask Maga here in TN if this is what they voted for! I think many would say no--

- !
- And note, if the price of beef and coffee troubles you, it is because Trump hiked (illegally) tariffs on Brazil because of this criminal
- Met John Prine in 1976, when guest on SNL, sat next to me and my friend with guitar before went on stage. In High School then, became a professor at Vanderbilt later, came to know well manager Al Bunetta, folks ar Arnolds, Brown's Cafe, Prine's haunts. "Oh boy" do we miss John Prine

- VOTE FOR BEHN--the noise about her views on Nashville is ridiculous--ALL of us hate the pedal taverns and bachelorettes--which was her point--low rise tourism and we, the residents, get NO financial benefit.
- Still waiting for Vanderbilt to say no. But our chancellor claims he is "giving imput" because he thinks we are all idiots
- The federal government’s “Compact” will put the University of Texas at Austin under political control. Join with Longhorns for Liberty before the Board of Regents meeting on November 19-20 and tell President Jim Davis and the Regents to protect UT Austin’s independence by rejecting the Compact.
- This image does not show private property sign Diermeier put up to keep "outsiders" out. Time for universities to stand up for freedom, not advocate "institutional neutrality," which, as an alum wrote in the school paper, assumes we are "all stupid" and don't see cowardice for what it is.
- Sickening, but predictable. In such times people/institutions MUST stand up against authoritarianism--"institutional neutrality" is BS, another form of silence as complicity.

- we were there, and would have been nice if more officials of the Democratic party came and spoke. Time for everyone to stand up
- We must all step forward to assert our basic right to free speech and save this country.
- This man hates America
- I meant interesting--"our audience does not care about this type of work (a direct quote)." Reviewed a lot of essays, never done that--have no idea what is interesting to people, just interested in the scholarship
- To all fellow academics... a familiar experience... had an article rejected (after nearly 4 month wait, not bad in this business), but reviewers referred repeatedly to a presupposed journal audience that would not find the work uninteresting (too historical).
- to be clear, Trump is waging private war against his own citizens...
- Here's to hoping, after a CT scan that shows spread of disease. to paraphrase Woody Allen, Mozart was dead for 30 years before he reached my age...
- What seems to me missing in recent discussions of opposing Trump is sufficient emphasis on the fact that he is unhinged, impaired, spews a rambling form of hatred that warrants all out effort to remove him from office. I fear that Dems to often distill the incoherence/hatred into policy
- Democrats have to make Americans understand that Trump's "big" bill aims at using revenue to expand ICE and military spending that would otherwise go to social programs and help citizens, for whom he and the Republican have always had contempt. Need Dems to convey the gravity of this.

- In for cancer CT today at Vanderbilt. Told no results for 3 weeks--continuation of an overall and unnecessarily bad experience with Neuroendocrine dept. Rude staff, uncaring doctor (Ramirez). Have gone primarily to Sloan Kettering for treatment (excellent). Advice--don't get sick!
