- Reposted by Dr Bryony CoombsWhen people talk about the idea that some universities must go under, there’s a certain tendency to behave as if these smaller local campuses are negligible- regrettable casualties perhaps but not ‘real’ universities. This report does a great job of illustrating why that’s wrong.

- Sometimes the internet just does not work. I'm having one of those days. I seem unable to access the KB manuscript catalogue, which is soul destroying & the volume I need of the 'Catalogue of Additions to the Manuscripts in the British Museum' (years 1916-20) is one of the few undigitised arghhh!

- Every time I think I have a handle on the corpus of 'Scottish' manuscripts for my book, a new one pops up. The latest is as perplexing as it is delightful. In a private collection, so perhaps this is why it had escaped my notice, but there are so many more questions to answer....

- Incidentally, this fascinating manuscript was commissioned by a Scottish princess in 1464: Isabella duchess of Brittany,daughter of James I of Scotland. The scribe (according to a colophon) was Jehan Hubert:
