- Today in Hell Yes, Research: It's not that there are fewer autistic girls/AFAB people/women. It's that they present differently than boys/AMAB peeps/men, so there's a "catch up" diagnosis increase/rebalancing during & after adolescence: www.independent.co.uk/news/health/... #autism #neurodiversity

- I should not have to say this but if you are a legal observer your job is not to go snitch on any and all illegal things. Your job is SPECIFICALLY AND EXCLUSIVELY to record law enforcement brutality, illegality, and overreach. It is ABSOLUTELY NOT to snitch on protests you find too spicy.

- Some charcoal sketches from tonight’s life drawing session! Not my best night, but it’s always relaxing and it’s good to draw with no distractions! ❤️
- “burn the entire democracy down and start over” is an opinion equivalent to “apocalyptic times are good because the rapture is coming and I’ll go to heaven” in that it’s a way people give themselves permission to do none of the complex and difficult things that would make things a little better now

- they're trying to be coy about salivating over the prospect of raping women, they'll contest that but if pushed to explain, that's exactly what they would describe. forced pregnancy of any kind, by a man or by the state, is gender-based violence
- worth noting that the second rich people stopped being afraid of mobs tearing them limb from limb, they stopped building libraries and opera houses and stuff and started ripping the copper wiring out of the walls of society instead

- IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT As of January 1st 2026, John and I are **no longer** the owners of Complexly (the educational media company we started 15 years ago that makes Crash Course, Eons, SciShow, Study Hall, and a bunch of other shows.) We have been the sole owners for all that time...
- But now we have gone from owning 100% to owning 0% because, for the last month, Complexly has been a non-profit organization. apnews.com/article/john...

- the end result of AI image, video, and audio generation is that society will no longer be able to rely on images or video or audio to represent reality. Children born today will never be able to assume that just because they have seen something on a screen that it is likely to be true.
- The ramifications of this are honestly fascinating. Anyone who trusts anything they've seen or heard on a phone or computer will seem hopelessly naive, and only in-person connections will be real.
- or the barrier between reality and unreality will simply continue to erode and nothing will be held to a standard of "is this true" and society will be entirely vibes-based. But that's what I think older people will do, because it's what's happening now. I think the youth will reject it.
- Every day Mamdani comes out and is like "hey guys, I turned off the orphan-crushing machine. Literally just had to flip a switch. Took less than 5 minutes." After decades of dem leadership pissing and moaning and fundraising about how complex an issue it is and how difficult the process is etc
- Dem leadership for generations: no you fool, you infant. It is a process. It takes time and political capital and expertise, it's- Mamdani, dusting off his hands: fixed it Dem leadership: what do you mean you fixed it Mamdani: Just had to unplug it.

- I think a lot about how latour felt when the anti-science rightwing crowd figured out how to weaponise their misreadings of social constructivism before progressives even started to get what he actually meant by it, and somedays I think we've learned absolutely nothing since the science wars.
