- This is a fantastic article. It’s a bit of a read, but nuanced and VALUABLE. Forward it to your Democratic Party representatives.

- "Popularism" is cargo-cult political science - it's a confusion about which variable drives a correlation. If voters want politicians with moderate beliefs, that doesn't mean they want politicians with no beliefs who recite fake-moderate scripts. The words do not magically produce the vote! 1/
- Moderate, run to the center, assume opinions are fixed and chase what polls well — that’s a badly misguided strategy for this moment. If interested in US elections, “popularism,” and opposing authoritarianism, read what the poli sci says, from @adambonica.bsky.social and @jakemgrumbach.bsky.social.

- Read this so you're ready to have these arguments with people in your life!
- very excited to have my response included in the latest Boston Review forum against Democratic moderation! here it is, my best argument for why Dems shouldn't "moderate" on transgender rights & LGBTQ issues more generally (as they are inextricably linked): www.bostonreview.net/forum/how-no...

- ...thought I'd share a few excerpts today. I organized the essay around 3 false assumptions commonly made by ppl who think abandoning trans rights will help Dems in future elections. the first is that the anti-trans backlash stems from "activists gone too far"... www.bostonreview.net/forum/how-no...

- "Successful anti-authoritarian movements do not win by softening their positions. They win by building unlikely coalitions around a broadly resonant grievance." Like, say, corruption. Or, unchecked corporate power.
