Long, slender trabeculae pass across the marrow space. Trabeculae help resist weightbearing loads. But these ones don't appear to be in a good configuration to do that, unlike the spongy trabeculae nearby. Maybe they're holding adipose tissue in place, preventing it from wobbling during locomotion?
