- A rather unexpected addition to the the local 2026 10km list today in the form of a Red crested Pochard! A female on a woodland pond near Pensford. Locally I have only seen this species at CVL. Woodcock was also added. Total now stands at 67.

- 3 new life birds in 2024. Yellow Warbler, Scarlet Tanager & Pale legged Leaf Warbler. Not as many as in 2023 but that was a bumper year nowadays. Quality over quantity.
- So my local 10km list ends on a record 119 species, beating the previous by 23! Let’s see what we can do next year but it will be a hard total to beat! #UKBirding

- A lovely Firecrest today in West Bristol, showed well and was calling constantly, whilst looking and failing to see Lesser s Woody. #UKBirding local 10km list on 114 for 2024.
- Well it was brief but good views of the Scarlet Tanager this morning in West Yorkshire. Unfortunately no photographs, apart from the crowd.
- An unexpected pair of Pintail on Broadmead Flash Keynsham increased the local 10km list to 112 species.
- OTD in 2001. It was a quick dash over to St Martins for a Rose breasted Grosbeak. We had a brief but good view before it dived back into cover and was only seen once again the next day. (Photo Steve Blain)

- OTD in 2011.....St Mary's, was, in rarity terms on FIRE!!! 🔥🐧🔥 Northern Waterthrush 1 Solitary Sandpiper 1 (on the same pool as the Waterthrush) Blk & W Warbler 1 Baltimore Oriole 1 Bee Eater 1 Buff breasted Sandpiper 4 And we missed Blue winged Teal, Woodchat and a Red eyed Vireo by 5mins!
