judith butler: sex being social is probably one of the most important concepts in my writing
apparently almost everyone who claims to draw from judith butler: yeah so there is a sex/gender distintion and gender is social and fake and a performance and sex is biological and real and unchangeable
(authors note: judith butler explicitly points out performativity =/= performance)
the funniest part of this is when people try to synthesize it with forms of sex-class theory but anglosphere feminist works popular among the masses today seem to completely avoid psychoanalytic-feminist discourses so that's how you get mysticism like "male/female socialization is bound to bio sex"
Feb 4, 2026 23:32"women sometimes desire things that harm them. the only way to fix this is get them to think really hard about it and fight over choice lifestyles" <-- people who would feel deeply unsettled upon reading juliet mitchell or jacqueline rose or the andrea long chu / amia srinivasan discourses
