Honestly starting to think the fundamental problem isn’t social media alone but the acceleration of inhumanity; platforms don’t create the pathology, they just make it frictionless. Easy, casual inhumanity that’s continuous, ambient, self-replicating and persistent.
i was thinking about this last night as part of the overall train of thought about everyone being on giant platforms together
it's an endless gallery of anonymous punching bags you can lash out at
and you can see everyone else do it, and get hyped up to do it more
