Ben Goldsborough MP
Labour Member of Parliament for South Norfolk. If you are a constituent please email ben.goldsborough.mp@parliament.uk for casework enquiries. www.bengoldsborough.co.uk
- This is personal. 💛 Yesterday I spoke to ITV Anglia about the National Cancer Strategy. Faster diagnosis, more treatment, more lives saved. For families across Norfolk, this means hope not fear. We're acting sooner, not waiting for the worst. youtu.be/fuJZbrh3uUI
- Finally. Step free access at Wymondham station is moving forward. After years of talk, the Labour government has given the green light. I am now working with Greater Anglia and Network Rail to make it happen. Real progress in just 19 months as your MP.
- At #PMQs today I pressed the Prime Minister to secure a carve out for precision breeding in future EU negotiations. South Norfolk leads the way, from the @earlhaminst.bsky.social to the @johninnescentre.bsky.social. Backing British science means backing our food future.
- What would an M&S mean for Wymondham? Around 70 local jobs, a stronger high street and more reason for people to visit and spend time in our brilliant historic market town. I spoke to Chris Goreham on BBC Radio Norfolk about why it matters.
- 🚨 CHAOS ALERT 🚨 In May 2025 Reform said lift the two child cap. At noon today they said impose it. By 7pm they were split three ways. Some got confused & voted to scrap it. Others voted to push 450,000 kids into poverty. Farage called for poverty then didn’t even show up.
- Met with Justice Minister Sarah Sackman MP to talk about the urgent need to reform our courts. From the Single Justice Procedure to the magistracy and crown courts, standing still will not deliver justice. Reform is essential if the system is to work for everyone.

- AI innovation must never come at the cost of child safety. I have signed a joint letter organised by @anneliesedoddsmp.bsky.social MP urging stronger AI regulation after millions of sexualised images were generated by Grok AI. Safety by design must be the rule.
- No parent should worry about travel costs while their child is fighting cancer. We’ve heard families loud and clear. That’s why Labour is launching a £10m travel fund for young cancer patients. National Cancer Plan out tomorrow 👇 www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
- A real joy showing the brilliant ladies of Wymondham WI around Parliament today. Don’t ask what they said to make us laugh so much but we did manage to compose ourselves for the next photo. If you are a South Norfolk WI, community group or constituent, get in touch.
- A school full of joy and possibility. On Friday, I loved visiting Silfield Oak Primary Academy in Wymondham, meeting Headteacher Ms Emily McMillen and the first intake. A caring, curious community where children are already thriving and exploring their talents.
- 📢 I’m hiring! Join my Westminster team as a Parliamentary Assistant supporting me to deliver for South Norfolk: from casework and policy advice to linking our constituency with parliamentary work. London-based. Apply by 23 Feb. Details: w4mpjobs.org/job/98469
- Not the most flattering photo, but an honest one. A lot of people have asked how I am getting on with my skin cancer treatment, so I wanted to share a bit of real life from hospital today.
- Attention: Reform UK is not Tory 2.0. It is the far right in a suit. When a far right racist thug like Tommy Robinson endorses them, believe him. I am sharing Labour chair @annaturley.bsky.social’s letter urging Reform’s candidate to reject this poison. I am posting the full letter here.
- ⚽ Funding now open for local clubs and community groups ❤️ £85m is available to improve pitches, lighting, changing rooms and inclusive facilities. Nearly 1,000 projects already benefiting. Know a group that could apply? Tag and share so South Norfolk does not miss out. footballfoundation.org.uk
- Safer communities start with honest conversations. Thank you to Chief Constable Sanford for his time today on how we work together to keep Norfolk safe. Great to meet the PCs policing South Norfolk and thank them for their service.
- Big idea energy in Colney tonight. A great evening at Norwich Research Park for the “Extraordinary Norfolk” showcase bringing business leaders & innovators together to bang the drum for our county. I work with anyone who rolls up their sleeves and puts Norfolk first such as Cllr Fabian Eagle.
- Antisocial behaviour isn’t “low-level” when it’s ruining lives. If the police are the last resort, we’ve already failed. We need prevention, early support, and a proper multi-agency approach, not just firefighting. www.youtube.com/watch?v=tghJ...
- Are we training NHS staff for jobs that don’t exist? 👀 On BBC Politics East I explained how new Neighbourhood Health Hubs mean more NHS careers in the community: especially for rural Norfolk. Training has to keep up. Watch: youtu.be/aaw4oFcp1HM
- Pubs are the heartbeat of South Norfolk. I have pulled together feedback from local pubs & fed it straight to the Treasury & I'm pleased to see a much needed support package announced. Business rates cut, bills frozen & a fairer valuation review. Read more: bengoldsborough.co.uk/f/listening-...
- We must never forget. It was an honour to sign the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment. With survivors becoming fewer and frailer, the responsibility is on us and the next generation to remember the Holocaust and ensure its lessons are never lost.
- 𝐀 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐧 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐜𝐡. I’ve signed a cross-party letter urging the PM to secure Jimmy Lai’s release during his China visit. I’ll keep working with @hongkongwatch.bsky.social to defend human rights. #FreeJimmyLai #HumanRights

- Why do roadworks always seem to hit at once? 🚧 On BBC Politics East I talked about poor coordination between agencies, the impact on local businesses, and why better communication, and better rules, matter. youtu.be/kw69fTQwXH8
- 🎭 Panto magic in Loddon! Huge thanks to the brilliant Loddon Players on their Golden Anniversary 50 years of amazing storytelling and fundraising for local good causes. I even survived a kiss from both Ugly Sisters… just about! 👑
- From Parliament to panto 🎭 This week I celebrated Hethersett Panto’s 55th anniversary and the Loddon Players’ 50th. Robin Hood, Cinderella and plenty of laughs. Community arts bring people together and yes, I was asked if I’d make a good Dame… youtu.be/m7tixXnFeqQ
- 🚸 This is what speaking up looks like. We’ve now had well over 600 signatures backing a safe footpath between Little Melton & Hethersett: and great coverage in the Wymondham & Attleborough Mercury. Thank you. Please keep signing & sharing 👉 www.surveymonkey.com/r/FundThePath
- Big thanks to Long Stratton Town Council for inviting me to so we could chat all things Stratton. We covered planning, supermarkets, doctors, schools and how we can work together to make the town an even better place to live, work and do business. Nearly 2 hours well spent.
- 📺 On BBC Politics East this Sunday I joined Amelia Reynolds with Charlotte Cane MP and Jerome Mayhew MP. We talked NHS Day, students choosing NHS careers, tackling anti-social behaviour, and roadworks hitting local businesses. Tune in to find out my emoji of the week is 🎭…
- Captured by the Sheriff of Ketteringham just before the Hethersett Panto… but rescued by Maid Marian! 😄 I had an absolute blast at Robin Hood: oh yes I did! Raising funds for Parkinson’s UK, with shows until 24 Jan. And it’s the 55th year! 🎭
- Polls have now closed in the Wymondham Central by election. We now await the result but I wanted to share a few thoughts from the short campaign. Our fab Labour candidate Lowell Doheny campaigned with optimism. Our South Norfolk Labour vision will always be about building bridges instead of walls.
- Polling day in Wymondham Central 🗳️ I’m backing Labour’s Lowell Doheny – local teacher, SENCO, town councillor and a tireless hard worker. Let’s keep Wymondham moving forward. Vote by 10pm (bring ID). Vote Lowell. Vote Labour. #Wymondham #VoteLabour
- Hospitality matters in South Norfolk. Thanks to Chris & Ian at Zaks for meeting me today after my letter to local businesses. Proud of how they back young people, local suppliers & great food. I’ll be your voice in Westminster. www.zaks.uk.com
- Great session out in Wymondham Central Ward again today. So many chances to listen to what’s really making residents tick & to share why Lowell Doheny is such a strong local Labour candidate. And yes, the fridge on Ethel Gooch Road is gone: promise kept. Vote local. Vote Labour. Vote Lowell Doheny
- 🔥 Big news for South Norfolk: Labour’s Warm Homes Plan is the biggest-ever investment in home upgrades. Lower energy bills, warmer homes and real help for low-income families, with clean power like insulation, solar and heat pumps cutting costs for good.
- Whenever I hear the “you’re all the same” brigade chirp up I’ll be pointing this out. Reform UK are just a racket for one man to grab more power and wealth. Sounds familiar doesn’t it…
- Highly recommend people read the Canadian Prime Minister’s speech. Middle powers (like Canada, the U.K., and Australia) must unite upon our values & harmonise our economic/defence power. To go on pretending the post-Cold War structures benefit us is folly. paulwells.substack.com/p/the-carney...
- Great news for Wymondham! Nationwide has confirmed it’s staying open until at least 2030. On my recent visit I made clear how much the town values Nationwide as other banks have left. With the banking hub opening soon, access is secured. I’ll keep banging the drum for our market towns.
- Chilly weather, warm welcome 🍰 Out listening to residents ahead of the Wymondham Central by-election. Great to be joined by @carliharper.bsky.social, Labour’s Norfolk & Suffolk mayoral candidate. Cold air, warm chats & even a resident gave me a slice of Victoria sponge as a thank you!
