- Fun fact, when I first came up with the idea for my scifi Fate’s Razor in 2011, it was originally called Destiny’s Children…
- Oops
- It’s done! My first ever scifi cyberpunk FATE’S RAZOR is finished at 160,000 words! I am so very happy right now. I took a few extra days to write some finishing touches but it is now DONE and it’s time for the editing stage
- Have you ever been told this? It’s occurred a few times to me but it’s never going to happen. I will always be writing about something magical or dragony. And apparently also now robots.
- Lazy Saturday means 3k words done so far today. I’d love to hit 80k in a month but think I’ll be coming in at 75k. Not bad for the first month of my little million word a year challenge!
- Most authors wouldn’t tell you this, but the first and most important stage of writing a book is spending at least 2 hours fiddling around finding the perfect font for your chapter headers

- GET IN! The Weaver & The Wyrm is a round two finalist in #SFINC3!
- After 15 years writing about dragons and magic, I’ve gone futuristic. For the past few months I’ve been writing my first ever scifi, tech noir, cyberpunk thing, and it’s definitely like nothing I’ve ever written.. The verdict? Writing SF is fun as fuck. I’m also almost done 🤞
- There's only a few more days until the Dead Stars: Part Two project closes for good! No more Emaneska illustrated hardcovers are going to be available after this 👇 www.kickstarter.com/projects/emaneska/dead-stars-part-two-illustrated-hardcover
- Reposted by Ben GalleyWe’re live tomorrow at Bay and Bloor for an afternoon of… well… swords and spells. I’m going to read from an unpublished fantasy novel, and goodness only knows what Sebastien will do. Turn me into a frog?
- Fate's Razor should be done by the end of the week! I love this part of the writing process and the head down rampage for the finish line. I’ve got 10,000 more words to go and book number 20 is done
- In my ongoing personal quest to write a million words this year, I'm almost on target for January! I want to hit 83k per month and I'm at 65k right now.
- A few little tips for how I usually go about my writing day:
- One day I truly hope to have an Also By section this epically long
- A whole shelf and counting now. 15 years ago Ben wouldn't believe it.
- Guess what? It doesn’t really matter if you write 10,000 words today or -10000, you’re still sitting down to do some good old fashioned writing, and that’s what matters. That’s the job.

- Feedback for Chasing Graves! I am beyond happy with that weird and dark series but these words make me even happier. Thank you 🤘
- Let's be honest here, book research usually isn't the glamorous thing we present it as
- This morning I have spent 30 minutes deciding on the placement of a comma. Best job ever.
- Hello! I’m Ben Galley, and I’m trying to teach my algorithm to send me more bookish and SFF stuff. If you like sci-fi or fantasy books we should be friends 🙂
- As a third-born, Tarko has always desperately wanted to matter, he just didn't expect it to fall to him to save his world of mile-high trees from fire-breathing demons... The Bloodwood Saga completes in May! www.amazon.com/dp/B0BJBFVPX4
- Fate’s Razor is up to 155k and I’m almost at the finale. Can’t wait to finish my first sci-fi
- In my quest to write a million words this year, I've been trying to hit at least 3000 a day since the start of Jan, and so far I'm just shy of 40k. Only 960000 to go.
- All Caltro wanted was a chance to prove he's still the best thief in the Arc, but instead he finds himself unalived by soulstealars and trapped as a ghost. Meanwhile, Nilith is dragging a body towards the city, with only a murderous desert standing in her way. Why? You'll see👇
- SWORDS! New year, more sword training. Which one are you choosing for the battlefield?
- I scrapped a chunk of my WIP instead of writing yesterday but that still counts as WRITING. Writing a book is a process, not a race. If something crucial doesn’t work and you’re stuck, take your time and rewrite. Just make sure you ALWAYS shelve what you deleted.
- Another review is up for Weaver & The Wyrm as part of the #SFINCS contest. “Farden was a fascinating character that reminds me of Asher from “The Echo’s Saga” and Geralt from “The Witcher”…both a couple of my favorites.“ grimoireinkreviews.wordpress.com/2026/01/11/t...
- If only it were true
- So far in 2026, I've written 19,000 words. That's roughly 3800 a day. If I can keep this consistency up all year I could write almost 1.5 million words. That would be somewhere between 7 and 9 books. An evil plan is emerging...

- Magic! Demons! And giant hummingbirds. And horrible spider centipede creatures that I hated writing. Check out the progression from book 1 to 3:
- Still can’t believe this little wyrm is in the semi finals of #SFINCS!
- I am the get naked and run about in the snow kind of excited for Demon's Ruin to land. May 19th! Ebook, paperback AND audio 🔥
- This has been a challenge to write being a new genre but after knocking out 5k yesterday I’m very proud to say we are up to 135,000 words on Fate’s Razor!
- January is the last chance to back the Dead Stars: Part Two project. You can still get all 4 Emaneska series illustrated hardcovers!👇 www.kickstarter.com/projects/ema...
