  A description of the man who allegedly approached a primary school pupil earlier this week has been released by police. The incident is said to have taken place at Grouville School on Monday afternoon at pick-up time. In an email to all parentS, Grouville School headteacher Nichola Turner said the child “was approached by an unknown man who claimed ‘I know your mum and I’ve come to pick you up’.”

  A plan to reinvigorate Jersey's infrastructure is moving along, with plans for a "more disciplined financial framework" lodged by the Treasury Minister. Deputy Elaine Millar proposed plans to create the "Jersey Capital Investment Fund" – a replacement for the current Consolidated Fund – to fund the more major assets and infrastructure belonging to the government. Alongside the Capital Investment Fund, Deputy Millar's wants to create a General Revenue Fund focused on day-to-day public services.

  The chief executive of a government-approved tenancy deposit scheme has said he "can't see a reason" why the timeframe in which landlords are required to comply with the service after receiving funds from a tenant couldn't be shortened. Eddie Hooker, of MyDeposits Jersey, stated that rental market disputes involving deposits had fallen since the scheme was introduced in the island around a decade ago.

  Islanders aged between 18 and 25 years old are now eligible to apply for social rented housing as part of a series of changes to eligibility criteria that come into force today. The new rules, introduced by Housing Minister Sam Mézec, lower the minimum age for applicants without children from 25 to 18 year olds. Applicants aged between 18 and 24 will need to demonstrate that they are financially independent and able to meet rent, bills and other living costs.

There are currently more than 80 girls in the eight to sixteen age range at the Mourant Girls Academy.

Nationally the warning is that "every critical ecosystem is on a pathway to collapse”. The Nature Commission says we need to heed that warning here too. A UK Government report, available online in full HERE, has forecast that for some environments this collapse could be evident from 2030, with the disappearance of coral reefs in South East Asia and boreal forests a “realistic possibility”.

  A national report recently warned of the "cascading risks of ecosystem degradation" - and it's a warning the Nature Commission says we need to heed across the Bailiwick. Commissioned by the UK Government, the report predicted some potentially devastating consequences possibly as early as 2030.  The report, available on the UK Government website HERE, warns that “ecosystem degradation is occurring across all regions”.

  Le Rondin has joined Guernsey Dairy’s 'Milk for Schools' scheme, giving pupils there a glass of the white stuff every day. The Dairy said the initiative supports student’s concentration and growth by meeting daily nutrition requirements. "The purpose of ‘Milk for Schools’ is to provide children, and I think most specifically, those children who are vulnerable in our community, a nutritious start to the day," said Dairy Marketing Officer Jon Taylor.

  Parents and carers are being encouraged to “remain vigilant” after a primary school pupil was allegedly approached by an unknown man at pick-up time. The incident, which is said to have taken place at Grouville School, is being investigated by police. The Education Department said it was aware of an incident on Monday "in which a Year 6 pupil was approached by an unknown man after school in Grouville".

The Jersey Care Commission, the island’s independent healthcare regulator, published the revised standards following a full public consultation carried out last year. The review marks the first major update since the standards were originally introduced in 2019 and is intended to ensure regulation keeps pace with changing expectations, legislation and real-life experience.
