People tell me they feel lost, unmoored, bewildered—but as we talk and move, all kinds of knowledge and secrets come to the surface, things they knew but had forgotten, lost, tucked away.

It’s especially frightening these days, as fascism in our streets and in our workplaces makes these kinds of moves seem more precarious, more risky, more threatening. Which is of course the point! Fascism wants us to be stuck.

But if I’ve learned anything from walking alongside so many brilliant, extraordinary people, it’s that even in the most difficult of circumstances, there’s room to maneuver, someone ready to lend a hand or conspire to make a change, some hidden path waiting to be uncovered.
