- A fire broke out on the Liberia-flagged container ship MSC Giada III in the Gulf of Finland after an explosion in the engineering section. The blaze spread to the upper structures but was extinguished within hours
- All 22 crew members—1 Russian captain and 21 Myanmar nationals—are safe. The ship, unharmed in its hull and fuel tanks, was towed to the Port of Saint Petersburg.
- It would be a surprise if the 21 Myanmar nationals are send into the meat grinder now that they are on Russian soil.
