- If you haven't updated Arch in the last 100 days and you are running into a dependency conflict with the "rest" package when you attempt to run pacman -Syy and pacman -Syu the solution in many cases is simply: "pacman -R rest" It is worth reading bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.ph... to understand why.

- Re-install all your current packages, overwriting any corrupt or zero length files: pacman -S --overwrite '*' $(pacman -Qq) A crash in the middle of a pacman -Syu left our system in a bad state. Booted from the latest ISO, copied the libs pacman needed, chrooted and ran that command to fix things
