Fuck FF7 Twitter so, so much. One person oversimplifies a fleeting plot point to the degree of it being a straight up lie with no evidence and everyone just assumes it to be true.
Everyone believes the first bad thing they heard about it and won’t listen to a single thing edgewise.
Now that there’s a little pushback, that one person is acting like a victim for just sharing their live reaction when their “live reaction” was one tweet that said there’s ATTEMPTED RAPE in Dear Destiny.
Feb 2, 2026 03:49This person has also spent a LOT of time dragging Nojima instead of just…not giving him their time or money.
A name plate change in Ever Crisis over a redundancy issue warranted a crashout about how 7R is doomed to cater to Tifa fanboys in that person’s world.
In reality they just hate Nojima as a writer in general, and they hate Tifa in specific. They were desperate to hate the book before they even opened it, and they figured Aerith fans were a solid path to do so. Is Dear Destiny flawed? Most assuredly. TOTP is also flawed.
Do I think it’s gonna be that bad? No. None of this fuckass discourse has actually given me reason to not buy the book once it’s out in English.
All the inflammatory talk of why it’s SO bad has no actual backing, meanwhile the detailed and nuanced accounts paint a completely different picture.
I knew that this book would bring on insecurity and resentment in equal measure, and so I kept a level of disbelief. In general, believing the first awful thing you hear about something is a bad practice. In the FF7 fandom, that’s just stupid. You should know better.
You’ve been keyed up worrying about what’s in this book that’s gonna make CTZAs piss themselves with glee, and what lies they will tell, so you found a Super Serious real-world reason to call the book bad and not engage. So much for transparency being important. Insecurity isn’t cute.
This is not gonna age well. I know it won’t because you know what happened when TOTP came out? A bunch of shit about how Zangan was a predator who watched Tifa shower, how the pictures taken of her chest were in a MUCH worse context, all that.
And then it came out in English. And it was embarrassing how easily you let yourselves be fooled because you’re addicted to stress. You should be embarrassed, not just for spreading misinformation, but because you’re making yourself angry on purpose. Stress and adrenaline are addictive.
It scares me how willing you lot are to believe the first thing that pisses you off about a piece of media that’s been out for less than 5 days, that you’ve never even touched, that doesn’t even exist in a language that you speak yet. But what scares me most is how this was wide spread self-harm.
And anyone suggesting you check yourself, not even on an emotional level but on a nuance or FACTUAL level, was treated like the bad guy. But the people parroting an incredibly inflammatory claim are completely unchecked.
