"Never Knows Best" has an ambiguous meaning and that is part of it's meaning. I have heard, "Know one knows what is best," as the explanation many times, but that never sat right with me. I am sad that I remember there WAS a well layed out explanation decades ago when FLCL was new-
Jan 24, 2026 17:33-but that's gone into 'the algorithm'. But considering the character I interpret it as, "The best will never happen." Is there a best possible outcome? Sure. Who gets to live that? Never/no one. It is an acceptance that life isn't going to turn out the way you want it, so you live with what you get.
