The king card is always depicted holding a sword or scepter. It was either crown or no sword pose/random sword.
another reason is that there wasn't quite enough height to fit the lamb wearing the crown! because the design needs to be flipped, the little bit of extra height given by the crown made it a bit awkward.
That makes sense I suppose, but Ratau has his crown but he has significantly less detail so I guess it’s okay
Reducing the red crown's width or height would lose precious pixels and it wouldn't look like the crown any more! Ratau needs a bit more head space to sell his tattoo / eye scar, so his torso is squat, whereas lamb needed space for bell and fleece, although the final one was different to this design
