- I had a vivid memory of @indrapramitdas.bsky.social heroically turning away the postman bearing his book for the principle of not paying customs duty. I was more craven - friend sent gift worth $26, I paid ₹990 duty on it.
- I didn't want to disappoint the friend who sent it unasked. But general word of advice - gifts via mail are more trouble than they are worth. Just find a mule.
- And what the FUCK is this obnoxious customs rule?! We had more permeable borders back when steam engines ferried the post.
