- Ahhhhh the feeling of submitting something before anyone comes back to tell you what's wrong with it is BLISS, isn't it?!

- Reposted by Abi HynesJust under two weeks left to enter the annual GBP Short Story Prize - one of the highlights of our year, and where, for 2025/26, we'll be joined by two brilliant writers and one brilliant literary agent as judges (Sam Mills, Selby Wynn Schwartz, and Sebastian Godwin: www.galleybeggar.co.uk/prize
- Treated myself to two seasonally-appropriate little bite-sized reads from these queens of the short form. Aren't novellas just lovely things?? @faberbooks.bsky.social @vintagebooks.bsky.social
- My dad @davidhynes.bsky.social and I were both totally blown away by @the-rsc.bsky.social's Measure for Measure - a play I studied at A-level but have never seen staged with such clarity and impact. Several actual gasps from the audience. See it if you can!

- Woohoo!! Such great news, being part of this project was a total highlight of last year 👏✨️
- I taught my first class as a screenwriting lecturer at @metfilmstudio.bsky.social yesterday afternoon! Very exciting to meet my first cohort of students who I can already tell are going to be superstars. This whiteboard was a list of films and TV we love with our whole hearts 📺🎥🎞❤️

- I'm so looking forward to being part of this 👏 I'll be in conversation with Malachi McIntosh and @farhanashaikh.bsky.social about the Edge Hill Prize shortlist and all things short stories. Join us in Leicester in September for what looks set to be a really inspiring weekend!
- This looks well worth a go 👏 Get on it, screenwriters!

- Looking forward to being unattractively smug about this for the rest of the day. Writing is thinking - you can't outsource it. And contact with AI actually makes you lonelier. What are we doing?? time.com/7295195/ai-c...
- This week it's a very close call: am I more excited for 28 Years Later... 🧟♀️ 🧟♂️ ...OR... DCC Cheerleaders season 2?? 👯♀️🤸♀️ #WhatAreYouWatching? 📺🎞
- One week to go and final reminder to book to join me for my online writing workshop if you've had your eye on it! There are a handful of tickets left if you'd like to spend the evening adding a whole load of new techniques to your writer's toolkit 💡✍️😀
- I'm really enjoying Dept Q from the wonderful Scott Frank - and it's particularly great to see a British police drama break the mold of the same old tone and style we've mostly just repeated for the last decade or longer. Anyone else watching? What do you make of it? #WhatAreYouWatching? 📺
- Two weeks to go until my online ideas workshop for writers ✍️💡 We'll spend the evening trying some practical exercises to help you both generate new ideas and start to flesh them out. Would love to see you there!
- Today I'm mostly working on my talk for the @bbcwriters.bsky.social Voices groups next week - all about pitching and general meetings. Screenwriters - any tips for writers starting out? What do you wish you'd known about pitching when you first entered the industry?

- Right excuse me but wtaf was that season finale??? #TheLastOfUs
- Of course I'm still head over heels for #TheLastOfUs s2 (which IS a horror show btw, *ahem*, commissioners) and will be bereft after the last ep airs tomorrow... 🧟♂️🧟🧟♀️ #WhatAreYouWatching? 📺
- I'm so bored of male writers giving us historical female characters who are apparently pretty little wild things just longing to escape the trappings of femininity that society puts them in. Hair, clothes, customs: these are things most women have always made practical use of in ways that suit them
- Fancy a bit of a catch up on #WhatAreYouWatching? 📺 I've just binged & loved #Sirens (Netflix) which is surprising, knotty & nuanced - don't let the wrappings fool you! 🧜♀️ Also enjoying #CodeofSilence (ITV) which has done a brilliant job (I think) of centering the lead character's Deaf experience
- 💥 For this bank holiday weekend only, I'm offering a 20% discount on my ideas workshop next month ✍️💡 Please share with anyone who might be interested - the discount code is BANKHOL20 and ends at midnight on Monday! www.eventbrite.com/e/ideas-writ...
- OK this is v niche but I've been watching a lot of Spanish TV drama recently (not telenovellas - I mean Netflix shows like Cable Girls and The Lady's Companion) and they are SO differently put together to British and US stuff. Do they teach screenwriting differently? Does anyone know more?
- I needed something mindless to do after I finished the second draft of my novel, so I slaved over this paint by numbers of a council of cat cardinals. Yesterday I bought it a frame worthy of its glory. BEHOLD.
- Thrilled to receive my contributor copy of the 2nd issue of @remainsmagazine.bsky.social, which opens with my story of an eco funeral director whose plans go horribly wrong... 🪦⚰️☠️ Can't wait to read the rest of the wonderful new horror stories in here 👀🖤 remains.uk/products/iss...
