- Reposted by Adam RoyWe at the @postguild.bsky.social are raising money for the hundreds of journalists the Post just laid off. This goes to the people who are hurting, not the Post. Or if you'd rather, go subscribe to an independent journalist. Support is hugely appreciated. www.gofundme.com/f/standing-t...
- Reposted by Adam RoyI expected the cuts would be bad but I'm honestly stunned and sickened seeing how many great journalists the Washington Post just lost. People who nailed huge investigations, documented war zones, exposed horrific crimes, dropped all at once for failures they did not cause.
- And many people don't want to, either! I've had to work hard and push for readers, but journalism has been a normal job for me, one with an employer and health insurance and an audience from the get-go. I would not have wanted to do it if the only way to eat was to hustle on my own.
- Just absolutely gutting news. A layoff like this is bad for the entire industry, not to mention the reading public.
- Hello from the Roy house, where my six-year-old son is demanding that I explain the backstory of the music video to the song "Sandstorm" by Darude.
- Typhus, not the gas chamber, was what killed Anne Frank!
- The Post losing these journalists would be catastrophic not just for them or the business, but the public at large.
- Reposted by Adam Royi am recovering from a successful lobectomy, yet here i am, tubes sticking out of me like i’m weapon x and stressed about all this. i need the insurance. i need my medical team here. please please let us all be ok.
- Jesus this looks like shit
- This is the grocery store telling me to Pizza Log off
- Reposted by Adam RoyI wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good. Stay free
- Reposted by Adam RoyOk I hate to be that asshole but even though Janna Levin and I clearly have some enormous political disagreements, she’s not a crank and what she’s doing here is writing in very floral language about black body radiation and the future of the sun.
- Jewishly, the ADL's commitment to doing nothing helpful, ever, is truly incredible.
- There are a lot of reasons this attitude is bad but I'll offer one big one, which is that it changes "never again" to "it could not possibly happen again [because the Holocaust was a one-time thing by its nature]"

- Genuinely a stellar piece.
- Reposted by Adam RoyThe nuremberg race laws were legal, so they were ok! Amazing fucking take, congratulations bsky.app/profile/joel...
- Possibly the best piece of writing I've seen anyone put together about this whole mess.
- I wrote about my childhood friend Alexi Pretti. Please read it and share it and remember him as a human being. @theverge.com
- Chag sameach, everybody!
- People who lived downwind of the uranium mill in Monticello used to tell stories of bringing in their laundry from the line covered in yellow dust. The town also had sky-high rates of several different kinds of cancer. Stretches credulity to deny offhand that those two facts could be related.
- This Minnesota story has gotten—understandably!—less airplay, but it's still a big one: Last week, the House passed a bill that could open the door for a Chilean company to mine for copper in the watershed of America's most popular wilderness area, the Boundary Waters
- Reposted by Adam RoyGreat. Everything is so fucked that somehow I agree with Greenwald. He nails it here, though.
- At this point, taking any statement by DHS as anything other than inherently suspect is the journalistic equivalent of handing over your wallet to the county wallet inspector.
- I logged off to go skiing, and I'm now sitting next to a group in the lodge talking about how "they took his gun off him before they shot him, and how do we even know he was carrying a gun with how much Homeland Security lies?"
- looking at reddit.com/r/all right now is wild. 80% of the posts are anti ice from every kind of subreddit like NBA, climbing, nursing, batman, catbongos and music
- If you knew Alex Pretti as an outdoorsman or are aware of connections he may have had in the outdoor community, please get in touch--Signal is in bio.
- As a guy who covers and oversees coverage of the national parks, please take it from me that Alt National Park Service is not legitimate. There are sources within the NPS communicating with journalists, and this is not one of them.
- Decided to follow up a stressful day by watching Alex Honnold free solo a skyscraper, and you know what, it's not as relaxing as I thought it would be.

- Reposted by Adam RoyAhh the problem with common names The original description of this image -'Fruit flies undergo a prelude of dances prior to mating' It's a Tephritidae - a fruit fly. NOT Drosophila - what many refer to as a fruit fly (from family Drosophilidae aka Vinegar flies). Quite different (see image of cat)
- This is a very cool project and I'm happy to see @propublica.org make its data public this way.

- Backpacker had a chance to visit Greenland a few years ago. You're unlikely to learn anything about national security here, but you'll hopefully take away one insight that the US gov desperately needs to internalize: this is a real place, with real people and real culture, not a Monopoly property.

- Setting aside the fact that this somehow sounds like a threat: what war on protein are we talking about here?
- One of the biggest real-life jumpscares I've had recently was helping at a Special Olympics bowling league at a @bowlerobowl.bsky.social and looking up to see ICE recruitment ads playing across every screen in the building.
