National Network of Abortion Funds
A network of grassroots orgs building power to remove financial, logistical, cultural and political barriers to abortion access.
- We've started this year off with many attacks on self-managed abortion, from bogus hearings called by anti-abortion extremists to the banning of abortion access for veterans. Wondering how to talk about self-managed abortion with your community? Check out our new zine here: nnaf.org/W

- 🧵On Nov. 18th, South Carolina will hear S.B. 323. If passed, S.B. 323 will create a total abortion ban. This ban attacks our free speech, bodily autonomy, privacy, and ability to support our communities in making their own healthcare decisions.
- According to @aclusc.bsky.social, this bill would: - make abortion a felony equivalent to “the homicide of a person born alive" - allow imprisonment up to 30 years for a person having an abortion or aiding in abortion - prohibit transporting a minor out of state to obtain an abortion
- - change the definition of a legal “contraceptive” to exclude anything that prevents ovulation or implantation of a fertilized ovum - open the door to restrictions on in vitro fertilization (IVF) by defining a “human embryo” as a fertilized egg or zygote

- After the decision that overturned Roe v. Wade, abortion funds and independent clinics were left to fill the gaps caused by bans, after today's decision to pass the Republican budget, they will experience yet another squeeze as millions stand to lose their access to reproductive healthcare.
- Thanks to this bill, abortion funds and clinics are once again going to be left on the hook to provide not only crucial funding for abortion care but also other essential reproductive care, such as more costly forms of birth control, emergency contraception, and more.

- Reposted by National Network of Abortion FundsThe budget bill will now go back to the House for what may be a final vote. Our government should not be kicking millions of people off Medicaid and denying life-saving care to fund the Trump administration's extreme deportation machine.

- On June 18th, the Supreme Court allowed Tennessee to ban gender affirming care for youth. To trans youth: your true selves and existence are beyond the court's reach. Your fight to live authentically is sacred, and we stand with you. To adults: The state was never on our side. We have work to do.
- 🧵 On June 19, 1865, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to enforce the Emancipation Proclamation, officially ending chattel slavery in the state. However, we know the 13th Amendment contains a loophole that abolished slavery, except as a punishment for a crime.'
- This loophole has been used to facilitate the mass incarceration of Black Americans whose labor is then used to produce goods and tend to land. For true freedom to be achieved we must abolish this exploitative system that has broken up families and communities across the country.

- 🧵The man said it himself before the House and the Senate, “I don’t think people should be taking advice, medical advice, from me.” Mifepristone was approved by the FDA 25 years ago.
- His call to have it reviewed again in light of “new data” is nothing more than a continuation of his long history of spreading conspiracy theories and fear-mongering around proven health strategies and interventions.
- We know this administration is guided by anti-abortion groups and the so-called “pro-natalist” movement. We know that their plan all along has been to outright ban abortion.
