- A good heuristic for data science debates -- and any scientific debate, really -- is to trust the people who are talking to you about levels of statistical uncertainty rather than the people making bold, relatively simplistic prescriptive claims.

View full threadNo, that we never get to two because Trump declares the one newly elected Congress illegitimate because of (nonexistent) fraud, says the current one will stay in place “until we can clear that up,” & no one stops him. I don’t think we’d get Avignon Congress at that point.
- Responded upthread, but I think that'd trigger mass protests, strikes and capital strikes. Often think back to the few weeks after J6 when a lot of powerful lobbying groups withdrew from half the Republican Party before reverting to the status quo.
- Oh it’s too cold? You are horribly uncomfortable? Have you considered becoming a keeshond?
- Senators and staffers will swear to you up and down they can’t do hardcore obstruction or that they tried once and no one cared. In reality, they can, but it’s hard work and if they’re successful Republicans might change the rules on them to which I say, cool, make them do that.
