- Another good alternative is Searx, which basically pulls Google and Microsoft results with anonymised requests, so it's via proxy basically. You can find an instance of it or host it yourself
- Ok seems I was missing some context here my bad, if you actually want to boycott Google straight up you could just disable it in the settings, but you'll still need to fetch results from ddg or startpage if you actually want good results

- Fair enough. If there ever is an open source AI I can use on my phone with similar capabilities I would use it instead of course, and I hope that someone does get around to that. I respect your intolerance to invasive data collection, but at the moment AI is typically centralised unfortunately.
- I totally get your point, in an ideal world I would be self hosting an LLM myself so no one has my data except me. But running an LLM requires a good GPU which I don't have (plus I barely use AI anyway). At least with DeepSeek they have actually open sourced their LLM unlike OpenAI.
- Although I should mention that the LLM they use for their service is a more censored version than their open sourced one and it's difficult to say just how different they are in that regard. But regardless I do still personally hold the stance that I would rather the Chinese govt. have my data.
