- Just finished reading the wonderful "Act One" by Moss Hart, which was superficially a more upbeat memoir than the scathing "Shy" by Mary Rodgers, but under the surface nearly as grim about life in the theater, especially when you then read other reporting on Hart & what got left out of the book
- A CHORUS LINE AND THE MUSICALS OF MICHAEL BENNETT by Ken Mandelbaum is my favorite theater book. It’s as much about how the musical evolved from the 1960s into the 80s as it is a biography about 1 person. And Mandelbaum’s writing is masterclass in clarity and precision.
