- After all the times Zach has invited me to be on @pretendingpod.bsky.social, it was long past time to return the favour. This was a great chat, and I hope it's as useful as it was fun for us to record.
- Zach Reeves from @pretendingpod.bsky.social joins the Good Friends to explore how we can create campaigns by mixing together disparate Call of Cthulhu scenarios. blasphemoustomes.com/2026/01/27/c...
- Another fun conversation with Paula! The weirdly priapic Michigan Dogman is especially likely to haunt my dreams.
- Paula Deming joins the Good Friends once again to talk about our favourite cryptids and how they might find their way into our games blasphemoustomes.com/2026/01/13/c...
- I really enjoyed recording this episode. Paula and Matt introduced me to so many fun-sounding games, while I dredged up everything I could remember from the eighties and nineties! It's inspired me to start playing board games again. Watch this space for news on that soon.
- Paula Deming joins the Good Friends to discuss the various ways Cthulhu's tentacles have wormed their way into board games. blasphemoustomes.com/2025/12/30/c...
- I am not very good at self-promotion. We've been doing these Patreon bonuses for a year and I've failed to mention them anywhere. Patreon backers get immediate access to the back catalogue, along with the PDFs of every issue of The Blasphemous Tome and the Call of Cthulhu scenarios they contain.
- For a little over a year, we've been putting out monthly bonus episodes on Patreon in which Matt and Scott revisit recent episodes with insights and ideas they couldn't fit into the original discussion. We thought we'd share one of these publicly as a taste. blasphemoustomes.com/2026/01/05/b...
- I am so happy with how this art has come out!
- "The bands back together" Inked traditionally and colored digitally by yours truly December 2025. Commissioned by @goodfriendsofje.bsky.social and @sdorward.bsky.social for Blasphemous Tome
- @mrspike.bsky.social would be proud of how diligent I was about showing the Yellow Sign to everyone I met
- Impossible Landscapes Spoilers! Another fantasic session with @discourseminis.bsky.social @jaredlogan.bsky.social @adriangamenerd.bsky.social @sskorkowsky.bsky.social @sdorward.bsky.social that ended as expected from this group. Passing the Yellow Sign to a sad cable guy wandering the Night Floors.😅
- Daniel's illustrations for my scenario are even more grotesque than I could have hoped for! Just a reminder that anyone backing The Good Friends of Jackson Elias at the $5 by the end of the month will get a signed copy of the Tome, with two full scenarios by Matt and myself.
- GOAT OF THE YEAR Commission for the Blasphemous Tome #14 @goodfriendsofje.bsky.social Inked traditionally, colored digitally by yours truly 2025
- @mrspike.bsky.social has done a wonderful job of directing us once again, and we have a terrific cast, including @goodmania.bsky.social, @savagespiel.bsky.social, @grahamwalmsley.bsky.social, @hangnailjenny.bsky.social, @theant.bsky.social, Brian Murphy, and Sarah Dovey.
- Part 1 of our annual festive ghost story reading is now out! You can hear the next part live at 22:30 GMT on the Good Friends Discord server. blasphemoustomes.com/2025/12/16/t...
- We took a different approach with this episode, digging into the elements of the film and story we found inspirational rather than offering a full recap. I think it worked. And @rossbryant.bsky.social is always a delight to chat with.
- @rossbryant.bsky.social joins the Good Friends once again, this time to discuss Hitchcock's 1963 classic The Birds and the Daphne du Maurier story which inspired it. blasphemoustomes.com/2025/12/16/t...
- This has been great fun so far. If you fancy joining in, the discussion is happening in the book club channel of the Good Friends Discord. discord.com/invite/GoodF...
- I'm doing a Ghost Story Advent Challenge in the month of December with some friends from the @goodfriendsofje.bsky.social community. Finding some great new-to-me stories! www.weirdmurmur.com/2025/12/the-...
- It's always wonderful to chat with @rossbryant.bsky.social, and I think this episode hits just the right balance of fun and informative.
- @rossbryant.bsky.social joins the Good Friends once again to discuss techniques for bringing narration to life as a Keeper. There's a lot of solid, practical advice in this episode. blasphemoustomes.com/2025/12/02/n...
- This is another episode where I feel like we could have chatted for hours without exhausting the topic. I'm looking forward to talking to Matt about it in the next Just One More Thing, as editing the episode left me with a bunch of thoughts.
- Ericka Skirpan joins the Good Friends again to explore how we might create horror scenarios without any external antagonists blasphemoustomes.com/2025/11/18/w...
- Just One More Thing is the bonus monthly podcast Matt and I do for Patreon backers of the Good Friends, filling in things we didn't get to on the main episode and responding to listener comments. There are 12 episodes for you to catch up with now. www.patreon.com/Goodfriendso...
- I wrote a review of the new @themountaingoats.bsky.social album for @trebuchetmag.bsky.social www.trebuchet-magazine.com/the-mountain...
- This was a fascinating discussion that went in unexpected directions. I did not anticipate learning how the LARP and BDSM communities share safety tools. All this meant the episode went long, and I had to cut some interesting stuff. The unedited version on Patreon is 40 minutes longer.
- Ericka Skirpan joins the Good Friends to discuss how we might various techniques from LARP in our tabletop games blasphemoustomes.com/2025/11/04/u...
- It feels weird not to be posting a horror film review today, like I've forgotten something important
- It's the end of another October Horror Movie Challenge! Bring Her Back is everything I hoped it might be. It's refreshing to watch a horror film that actually horrifies. This is brutal, upsetting stuff, and it hurts in all the right ways. blasphemoustomes.com/2025/11/01/b... #ohmc #horror
- I'm still writing my final review, but here's my OHMC wrap-up to keep you going until then. Once again, I have picked my three best, worst, and weirdest films of the month, along with some near misses. blasphemoustomes.com/2025/10/31/o... #ohmc #horror
- Perewangan is a painfully average tale of demonic possession and a cursed mirror. Well made but terribly predictable. blasphemoustomes.com/2025/10/30/p... #ohmc #horror
- I've said before how I'd rather watch a bad film than a mediocre one, and this really got me thinking about why. After over fifty years of watching horror, I just appreciate films that show me something new. Perewangan did not do that.
- Just over six hours to go!
- TONIGHT! Spend Halloween Eve with Evan, Paul, and their special guest Scott Dorward LIVE on YouTube October 30th at 8pm eastern time. @evandorkin.bsky.social @mryellovich.bsky.social @sdorward.bsky.social www.youtube.com/live/asAUdh_...
- Creature From the Black Lagoon is one of the weaker Universal monster movies, but the creature itself is still something special. A tighter script might have made this a classic. blasphemoustomes.com/2025/10/29/c...
- I'm still not sure if I watched this as a kid. The fact that I can't remember is excuse enough for me to review it this month.
- I can't imagine Enys Men being a good fit for anyone's Halloween watch party, but it is the kind of eerie folk horror oddity you'll want to save for a rainy, introspective evening blasphemoustomes.com/2025/10/28/e... #ohmc #horror
- I'm still trying to work out whether I enjoyed Enys Men, but it was certainly a hell of an experience. In a month in which I've watched a number of challenging films, this was perhaps the most experimental. And I did love how perfectly it captured the mood of the 1970s.
- A Cat in the Brain isn't Fulci's worst film, but it is a mess, and nowhere near as shocking as it thinks it is. A little more imagination could have made this an unsettling piece of metafiction, but what we get is just frustrating and incoherent. blasphemoustomes.com/2025/10/27/a... #ohmc #horror
- Best Wishes to All is a creepy allegory that got right under my skin. Its metaphor is as subtle as a brick to the face, but it's still uncanny and completely unsettling. Another strong contender for film of the month. blasphemoustomes.com/2025/10/27/b... #ohmc #horror
- Infested is just the kind of fun, pacy monster movie I needed this late in the month. It's not the most original film you'll see, and it's definitely not for arachnophobes, but it is damn entertaining. blasphemoustomes.com/2025/10/25/i... #ohmc #horror
- The spiders in this film are more of a danger to your suspension of disbelief than to any human victims, but it's not a film that expects you to take it seriously. There is something delightfully retro in how little it cares about plausibility.
