- And Ono is out! Let’s see who ends up next…
- I remember in 1989 when our basketball coach announced he was leaving after the NCAAs and was told “Nope. You’re out now.” It’s time for Ono to be told that. Let’s have someone as interim who is reflecting Michigan values, fighting for us, and advocating for higher ed. We don’t need to wait.
- NEW: Fresh off announcing his departure for the University of Florida, outgoing University of Michigan President Santa Ono has had his name removed from the American Assoc of Colleges and Universities academic freedom letter he signed barely two weeks ago. talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/outgo...
- Michigan faculty senate has a proposal in alignment with this up for vote at the next mtg. Appreciate Rutgers leadership here!
- I hope other university alliances start pooling resources and engaging in the kinds of collective action Rutgers is proposing here for the Big Ten. senate.rutgers.edu/report/resol...
- I’d love to see our university presidents doing commercials together to show what’s at risk. Play those every game! Switch out the Big10 commercial to ones that map out all the potential research and teaching losses across that Big10 footprint.
- I'm just a small-town professor. I'll never be a provost or chancellor. But here's some free advice: we're about to hold the most watched college sports event in 🇺🇸. Every college president should be all over TV, at every game, explaining why the March Madness of federal budget cuts is a huge crisis.
- If you’re looking for a great gift for a Michigan fan - or yourself - I just dropped off two boxes of my Dad’s book at Schuler’s bookstore. They’re stocked for holiday gift shopping!
- In August before the first game I was walking down the street near campus and heard this kid - now I know our QB Davis Warren - making a call to someone who was clearly influential for him to share that he won the starting job for the first game.
- First post here to celebrate the launch of the new Michigan Sustainability Community (MSC) at UM for first year students. Joe Trumpey has been an incredible leader for the pilot showing the feasibility and potential. I’m so excited by his vision and can’t wait to see the impact of MSC.
- This came up in my memories from 2019. It is haunting and resonates even more today. As I look to the start of a new semester I grapple with navigating these tensions and supporting students who are trying to find paths that address climate change.
