- "But you have to pay for journalism if you don't want this to happen..." Yesish? But Jeff Bezos could fund the best damn newspaper in the world all by his lonesome if he wanted to. He actively does not want that, however. And in this case, people subscribing wouldn't change anything.
- A bunch of us subscribed to Teen Vogue in spite of not being teens because they've been fantastic for years. It did not prevent the whittling down over there, either. Honestly fixing the media requires taxing the stuffing out of some billionaires, HOWEVER...
- Who do you still like? If you want to subscribe to something, what sucks LEAST?
- This is where I'm at. It's important to know they're gonna try, but also the odds are not in their favor.

- Ohhh wow, blast from the past.
- Everyone should review this amazing historical document about what Internet warfare was like in the 1990s and early 2000s. (I aspire to Big Cat status myself, but tag yourself!) www.flamewarriorsguide.comp
- Getting the distinct impression I had an unusual dad cuz my first thought was The Lost Boys.
- We watched a lot of movies together. He liked John Hughes and muppets. We went to see the black cauldron about 16 times. One vacation he introduced me to red dwarf which he'd taped off pbs and we watched the whole damn thing.
- This whole thread but especially this. And this is why any visible thing you are doing is more useful than the thing itself. People can see you, and know solidly how many of us there are.
- But also the whistles ARE working beautifully. This is good. We should be happy about it.
