Rainbows for the Resistance
Hope, light, and crochet
- Watched Michelle Obama's documentary Becoming. (Mostly to boost ratings on the weeknd of the release of "Melania" 🤢) While watching, I felt very sad for missing the Obama era. Yes I was very much alive, age 17-25 in fact, but I grew up in a very insular sheltered community who shunned politics.
- We didn't vote, we didn't run for office, we wern't supposed to care at all what was going on outside our community. At the same time we heard a lot of hate for the Obama administration- our culture was very white and very racist. I missed a chunk of our nation's story and I will always regret that.
- But I am here today to say that it is possible to cultivate a relationship with politics, its possible to go from knowing nothing to a lifestyle of learning, and it's possible to break out of the bubble and find out what it means to be a part of this place we call America.
