- my take on heated rivalry (the book) is that it reads like a series of events rather than a narrative with build-up, pay-off, or character arcs. there is no tension ever, it never feels real. a cardboard cut-out of a romance novel.
- I find it very frustrating bc a lot of negative reviews want to blame it on the author not being a gay man or too much sex and imo it is genuinely just a problem of craft and taste. it goes all the way down to the prose.
- I just think romance novels can and should be good >:T

- okay, finished it. easy read but I can't say I enjoyed it
