- UC Davis has received a $120M gift—the largest ever made to veterinary medicine—from Joan and Sanford I. Weill. Our school is now the UC Davis Weill School of Veterinary Medicine, launching a bold new era with truly limitless impact for animal and human health. www.ucdavis.edu/news/uc-davi...
- Please check out these amazing women! They are fantastic scientists, committed mentors, supportive friends and honestly super stars! 🤩@bradylabs.bsky.social @mydennis.bsky.social @ucdavis.bsky.social www.ucdavis.edu/news/podcast...
- Friends, we are past the point of, “it’s too hard for me to watch, it’s too much for my mental health.” Please watch the videos. They are scary and devastating but you need to prepare yourselves because this violence won’t stay in Minnesota. My heart breaks for those who have been harmed and killed.
- Is anyone else having incredible angst about whether or not their labs will continue to be able to do science? I submit-revise-resubmit grants and hope upon hope something with get funded so I can continue to have a lab, but I get waves of panic and sadness over the current state of things. 😢🧬🔬

- Friends… today I drank enough caffeine to pull an all nighter in Vegas and drank almost zero water… ouch. 😖 0/10. Do not recommend.

- Thank you to @labonnelab.bsky.social for sharing this and fighting for science! The way things are going- I have no idea if I will ever get scientifically funding again. I will keep trying but if I’m not politically favored- is it futile? 💔
- I explained the dangers of the recent politicization of grant reviews at NIH for The Hill, and also that while diversity otherwise remains a bad word, geographic diversity is somehow laudable. thehill.com/opinion/tech...
- Ugh- typo. Scientific funding- not scientifically. “Don’t post before coffee!
- Yes please for my shoulders and hips… 😩
- they're gonna need to dunk me in this scitechdaily.com/anti-aging-i...
- Anyway, none of my clothes fit so I assume someone came in over the break while I was wearing sweatpants everyday and shrunk all my jeans and dress pants. No idea how to catch the person that did this to me. 😂😭😬

- Any of my neurodevelopmental connections looking for an opportunity? The @ucdavis.bsky.social MIND Institute is hiring “Robert E. Chason Endowed Chair in Translational Research,” where translational is defined broadly! Please check it out! recruit.ucdavis.edu/JPF07378
- Really bad day for the eduroam WiFi to go out on campus… 🫠

- Here we go again! Have a wonderful first week back to academia everyone!

- So many students don’t understand the importance of having letters of recommendation from professors who actually know them. Please put in the effort! Go to office hours! Send your CV! Don’t ask for letters if professors can’t identify you in a lineup or if you didn’t do well in the class. 🫠

- Happy new year everyone! I don’t know about everyone else but 2025 was rough for me. I hope that 2026 is a better year. Looking forward to starting out the new year with positivity and renewed purpose.

- In case anyone needs a smile… I dressed up sweet Roxie the Bulldog in several outfits over the Christmas holiday and she patiently wore them without protest- even the Santa hat!
- Happy holidays from Chonk, Princess Bubblegum, and the rest of the axolotls! Does anyone study axolotl vision? They always move to the front of the tank to see me when I wear red or have red nails. 😍
- Happy holidays from our lab to yours! Wishing you a peaceful and/or productive holiday season. Whichever one you need the most! 🎄
- Reposted by Crystal Rogers, PhDHAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL OF YOU!🎄✨
- Holy jeez…. Starting this week with 6AM Monday rescheduled study section due to a 40+ day govt shutdown, middling with new NIH common forms that are buggy, and ending the week with “SURPRISE” Friday jury duty text/email from a summons I never received is peak 2025. Like… 2025 is 2025ing to the end.

- Grateful for the @diffjournal.bsky.social community in 2025! Thank you to everyone who submitted, reviewed, edited, and attended our @intlsocdiff.bsky.social Differentiation Across Scales Virtual Seminars. We welcome new submissions, support no-cost pub options, and encourage preprints. On to 2026!

- Always Lampoon’s Vacation…. Original, euro, and Christmas.

- My dog also perches like a cat on the top of couch pillows… ears everywhere, feet fat, just doing it up.
- You know what? Looking into this face can lighten any mood. She’s fully ridiculous and adorable. Very interested in food items. 💯
