In March 2020 I had a gig writing up a local newspaper’s man-on-the-street section, which I promptly gave up once lockdown orders came. I was lucky enough to be living with my mom and surviving on no income for a month or two before I found remote work,
but losing that gig was a part of the national emergency. I think that’s why rn is such a mindfuck because work’s just expected to go on, except for the people who lost absolutely everything. how are people supposed to stay sane in the wake of (during!) their birth city’s devastation?
the U.S. has needed a mass mental-health break for the past four years now, but literally nothing will make capitalism stop huh
