- rewatching episode 5 of karaoke Iko anime for the millionth time and it always fries me that two high school girls take a single distant look at middle aged felon Kyouji and basically go "um eww!!!"
- like it tracks somehow that any female written by wayama yama would be immune to kyouji. it's almost necessary for the plot that 14 year old satomi has no female friends to judge him for clutching his school bag over a 38 year old criminal

- lurking a fandom for an extended period of time always gets funny because eventually you'll get to a point where you don't know any of the people involved but you can clock basically who every vague post is about and which opinion set who off

- it's really bad I watch the rewatch the anime at least once a day. for months now
- I think abt character establishing moments a lot and my current guy of all time is kyouji karaoke iko, who is reintroduced via flashback with a scene from his youth where he's technically assaulted but puts on a smile, resumes work, and even apologizes for his appearance after being assaulted
- It's great because it helps to frame some of his behavior and actions in the follow up series, where we're given very little window into how he feels about much of anything beyond occasionally appearing disheveled and having his reactions hidden by the paneling
- Thinking more on it I love the experience of meeting Kyouji (the enigma) vs Meeting Kyouji (the person)
