- After several recent setbacks in the courts (Maria Kelly, Sandie Peggie), the anti-trans movement celebrated a long-awaited victory last week when the Darlington nurses (mostly) won their case against the NHS. What does it mean for trans rights? Lawyers disagree 🧵
- The 8 nurses at Darlington memorial hospital – Joanne Bradbury, Karen Danson, Mary Annice Grundy, Carly Hoy, Bethany Hutchison, Lisa Lockey, Tracey Anne Hooper and Jane Peveller – sued their NHS trust for making them share a changing room with a trans woman, Rose Henderson.
- The judge found the trust had indeed “violated the[ir] dignity” in having them change alongside Henderson. See the full judgement www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/u...

- Billionaire "rogue landlord" (a judge's words, not mine) John Christodoulou owes his former tenants £263,555.69. Instead of paying them, he's pressuring media outlets – including, unsuccessfully, @novaramedia.com – to remove negative coverage of him. My story: novaramedia.com/2026/01/16/t...
- After six years in court and a reported £1m+ spent on legal fees, Allison Bailey – co-founder of LGB Alliance and a friend of JK Rowling's – has lost her appeal against Stonewall. Bailie tried unsuccessfully to prove that Stonewall had caused her chambers to drop her for her gender-critical views 🧵
- In a 2022 employment tribunal, Allison Bailey was found to have been discriminated against by her chambers for her gender-critical beliefs. She was paid £22k in damages. The case was hailed as a success in the media. But she wasn’t done.
- It wasn't just Garden Court Chambers (GCC) Bailey blamed for her treatment, but also @stonewalluk.bsky.social, whose diversity champions scheme GCC was signed up to, and which Bailey said induced the chambers’ discrimination.
