- I have been increasingly concerned with how much reference there have been to the midterms and the 2020 election being stolen. This feels like five alarm fire, red alert, decon 5 type warning.
- So has every middle Atlantic and northern major city just done a shitty job with snow removal?
- We did it, Joe! We have successfully registered Niff for camp for the summer. I need a drink 😭
- Waiting for camp sign ups to open at 6pm like Im buying Beyonce tickets. There has got to be another way...
- Im not gonna lie the general experience of parenting in this state is trash. I miss NJ. Idk if it was just a Bergen county bubble or maybe even a town specific one. But like we just walked to rec center or drove to Y for camp sign ups.
- Our oldest started public school at 3 with universal pre-k. Getting after school or before school care was easy. Here? The waitlist hasnt moved in two years and we will be paying for childcare/school until the twins start kindergarten. Snow keeps kids out of school for a week. I want to go home.
- I love my job but like if yall see microbiology/virology/infectious disease faculty jobs in NJ/ Downstate NY send them to me. I've had enough.
- Bro idk who decided deadlines for everything should in February but like the emotional rollercoaster of submitting 4 different things in 24 hours plus other work related news had me actually crying in my office for 10 minutes. Ain’t nobody got time for that.
- So glad to open up the podcast app to @838carlisle.bsky.social and @southernsylvs.bsky.social this morning. I couldn’t bring myself to watch the USWNT two friendlies bc of everything else that’s going on. Love that I can always count on them to be real. @diasporautdpod.bsky.social
- The more I think about the more infuriating it is that ppl wanna use trainees as the shield. Like they aren’t the ones suffering the most from this funding foolishness. That’s without considering trainees are the most diverse population of scientists. One or the reasons science and DEI were targets
- That means that trainees and their families are more likely in the cross hairs here. Like be so for real.
- I wish that losing a grant or having a grant currently in submission rejected bc I spoke out against everything going on right now was my biggest worry right now…
- Large group of people, likely malnutritioned and exhausted, thus immunocompromised. Infectious disease thrive in these conditions. I hope these people will get the care they need.
- Lowe’s is also out of rock salt
