- Delighted to announce I signed something today! Ulverscroft Publishing will be releasing THE SWEETEST THING as a large print edition. Ulverscroft Publishing was shortlisted in the RNA Industry Awards in 2025. Looking forward to working with them - and seeing my book in libraries!
- Loving my whimsical musical box typewriter gifted for my birthday ❤️ Enjoyed a little break between some writerly tasks.
- Publication Day for this little beauty! Celebrating Written In The Stars, the story that was first pitched in 2021 and is now out there ❤️ In this same week, I received some exciting publishing news for 2026! But best of all, was the hospital news that Mr.M is clear of cancer. Laughing, crying. ❤️
- Here in Scotland, I am an electric blanket morning writer. These mornings belong to raspberry rippled skies, to the fluffed up birds, the crackling puddles, sparkly roof tiles and words pulled down from dreams. I am winter. Inspired by Beth Kempton’s #winter
- Entered @welkinprize.bsky.social on the opening day and bagged a badge! Can you write a 100 word mini fiction? Good luck!
- Latest story out in the wild!
- Autumn glow out the window while I wrote a 100 word piece for a competition that accidentally led to me writing a whole chapter of the current WIP. I was back in the eighties and loving it 🥰
- Thank you, September. You’ve been wonderful. #scotland
- Proud of myself! I stuck with it! The early manuscript went through quite the journey: shortlisting with Penguin books, 1 to 1s, then lived in a drawer until I had the skill to complete it. 3 years later!!!! SIGN YOUR NAME ACROSS MY HEART 4th December in all good supermarkets near you (UK) #writers
- Thank you! The journey was quite the thing and I’ve written a whole post on Substack about it. I was surprised how much I was able to be guided by that early draft - once the time had passed and I could see it clearly. Wish I’d done it sooner! But glad I’ve done it 👍
- Need a hug? Here’s Monty dog channelling autumn, all wrapped up in the huge blanket his gran knitted in her final year here. Cuppa, book, cuddle? Yes please x x
- Sometimes we need these little moments of peace. Later in the day the place will belong to dogs chasing seagulls, toddlers splashing in the shallows, dog walkers and picnic blankets. For now it belongs to the early risers, the wild swimmers, and the gulls. #scotland #thisishome
- Early start with a train headed south. A beautiful bright morning in Scotland 😍 #traintrip
- A walk down to the beach is always a good idea. I’m so lucky the east coast of Scotland is my home ❤️ Resting following publication of my pocket novel The Sweetest Thing which features coastal Scotland, Orkney and Italy. #scotland
- Proud moment seeing my Pocket Novel in print and on supermarket shelves right now! I loved writing this one ❤️ #writingcommunity ❤️ The Sweetest Thing - set in Scotland and Italy. ❤️
- Final read through ahead of submission to my editor. Top Tip: I do this on Kindle as my brain reads my own work differently there as I’ve written it on PC and laptop. Have you tried this? AND…submitted. #fictionfriday #scotland #writers
- Proud to have two feel-good stories in this bumper summer edition out now! #feelgoodfiction #shortstories
- Time to go to the bluebell woods next to the sea! Enjoy 😍 #scotland #bluebells
- A most glorious day yesterday in the historic area of Dysart in Scotland. I am so lucky to have this on my doorstep. The sounds of the waves was comforting. #scotland

- Success! The Sweetest Thing will be published by D.C.Thomson in June as a Pocket Novel. I am so happy! It was quite the week, with a short story accepted on Monday too! #writingcommunity
- Edinburgh looked particularly pretty tonight. Meeting up with writer friends old and new is always a delight. #writerscommunity #edinburgh
- A stroll around Dundee, home of D.C.Thomson, newspaper and magazine publisher, who publish my fiction. Looking splendid in the sunshine! Confirmation today that my latest story acceptance will appear in July (it’s a summer story!) PS Oor Wullie is an iconic comic character! #writingcommunity
- Make that x4 stories in the first two months of 2025! Two were subbed months ago, demonstrating patience is a virtue! I’m so pleased as this storyline is a very special one getting a commissioned piece of art. How lovely! More news when I know when and where it will appear. #writers
- Three stories sold already this year! Sorry for the humble brag but writers know how hard it can be! I believe in celebrating every step of the journey, and my SM is a record of that! I may have done a happy dance around the room (my dog may have joined in). Writers - keep going! #writingcommunity
- Good luck to all #pitchfest writers out there! I remember the feeling of "likes" and comments. It is wonderful to feel that support - to get a feeling for if your story is working. However, don't despair if there's no agent like. There can be many reasons behind that. Enjoy the event and support ❤️
- I've sold three short stories this year already (x14 in the last year!) Come join me in my Little Writing Corner of Scotland. It's free on Substack! Come on over! I can't wait to meet you! ❤️ #writingcommunity Little Writing Corner jackiemorrisonwrites.substack.com?r=57so0z&utm...
