- @davemark.com I’ve been fascinated with printed metal (Direct Metal Laser Sintering to be precise) for ages—we’ve got a machine at our university’s School of Jewellery which has been used to print in gold, platinum, even surgical steel. Great to see Apple scaling this technology.
- It’s amazing to see it in action. As it’s built up from layers of powdered metal the non-sintered elements support the structures above them—you can build things like fully flexible chains in a single print. When you’re done you suck out the unused particles for reuse.
