- So much gorse at Thursley Common NNR at the moment, and a first for me - a wood lark. Such a lovely song.
- My first ever hare in the sun, sheltering from an icy wind. What a gorgeous creature.

- Reposted by Sarah VallanceOne of the coolest aspects of insect photography is the realization that colors and textures are CRAZY up close. What may seem like a solid color or a plain matte surface becomes something astounding up close. This net-winged beetle in the family Lycidae is one of my favorite pix of 2024 #bugsky 🌿

- Reposted by Sarah VallanceI post this every year & nobody ever believes that it's real but it is, no editing at all except a small crop. Leighton moss a few years ago eating an apple & as I went to take another bite a robin landed on the apple, inches from my face. An amazing moment 😆. Merry Christmas everybody #UKBirding

- The underrated little dunnock. A delightful bird with lovely plumage, always busy, usually in the undergrowth looking for food.

- Reposted by Sarah VallanceDay 21 of posting cool mushrooms every day: The Bleeding Tooth fungus (Hydnellum peckii) has both teeth on its underside and "blood" on its top! The "blood" is extracellular fluid, which is squeezed out when the fungus absorbs water, increasing pressure until the red fluid is squeezed out!
