- Kicking off a 6 month project of reading Blackwater by Michael McDowell. Doing one novella a month, and I can't wait to explore the town of Perdido.
- Has anyone seen a release date for the new @johnlangan.bsky.social novel, The Cleaving Stone? I want to make sure my calendar is set well in advance.
- As we head into 2026, let's put an end to the reading goal of reading a set number of books for the year. Let's instead make a SMART goal that works. I dive into the goal that's worked for me for the past 4 years here. youtu.be/J2qOL7dIZL4?...
- I'm just a guy who loves reading and has no desire to write, but this sounds horrible. One of the things that makes reading so incredible is that an activity done alone is connected so much to humanity. I've got below zero desire to read anything created with no humanity and by a machine.

- Just hearing about this getting re-released for the first time. Good thing there's still time to add it to the Christmas list.
- One of the best books I've read this year. If you haven't yet, you should pick this up.

- Finished Five Decembers by James Kestrel last night and still haven't come down from it yet. Absolutely blown away by it, and it lived up to the hype. Destined to be a classic of crime fiction.

- The song Luke and Leanna by Craig Finn is the most Raymond Carveresque story ever written.
- Settling in to spend the evening with Jim Thompson.

- Been a while since I've read something that's made me audibly go WTF but @gabino.bsky.social just got me to with chapter 36 in House of Bone and Rain. This book just gets better and better.
- It's cold, windy, and rainy here. I'm 150 pages into this and can't think of a better book to spend Halloween with.

- I can't think of a better way to bridge the halloween season with Noirvember than with this. @gabino.bsky.social blends the crime and horror together so well.
- I picked up a copy of My Darkest Prayer by S.A. Cosby and the author photo of @blacktopkid.bsky.social kept throwing me off. I finally realized it's the first photo I've seen of him without a hat on.
- Can't wait for this!

- I stand by my comment that this isn't essential horror of Joe R. Lansdale, but essential horror, period. An absolutely flawless collection.

- Finished This Wretched Valley by @jennykiefer.com and this book is more than just an amazing cover. An absolutely hallucinogenic, terrifying story of a vengeful land. I pray to never see Dead Man Toes mushrooms in my life. Sign me up for more!
- Waiting on my hold from the library to come in so I figured nows a good time to start Thr Harlequin and the Train by @paultremblay.bsky.social. 40 pages in and ohh boy, what have I gotten myself into?!? Paul Tremblay always succeeds in freaking me out.

- April 2026 cannot come soon enough!
- I recently read Kem Nunn's Tapping the Source and couldn't believe how no one talked about it anymore. It is an absolute classic in the crime genre, and more people should read it. Check out my thoughts on it here:
- Camp Damascus by @chucktingle.bsky.social is religious horror done right. It's truly frightening, unsettling, and heartbreaking. Horror is at its best when it has something to say about the world, and Camp Damascus proves that.
- I know I'm late to the party, but Joe R. Lansdale's Moon Lake is an absolute fantastic Texas Gothic story, with a beautiful cover to match.
- Why did I wait so long to read @jordanharper.bsky.social She Rides Shotgun? It's incredible. I swear if anything happens to Polly or her bear by the end of this book I'll never recover.
