Brigid Keely She/Her
Chicago. Parent. Fat. Bisexual. Bipolar II. Loud. Still masking. Kind of cute if you squint. Nerdy, but in a way that's fairly socially acceptable now. I have a kid, Nikole, who is she/they and a spouse, N, who is he/him.

- What are some "old web" type sites that are still around? Like... neopets still exists. What else does?

- Reposted by Brigid Keely She/Hertoday's report: our "adopt a rent" venmo campaign paid 43 families rents who were at risk of evictions, including several moms of 4+ children this is the way to get rent paid fast. like. 1000x better than any other way.
- "That looks pretty good. When are you going to finish it?" wait what
- Oh dang, ICQ no longer exists.
- People are dunking on her for being a bad cook and she probably is but the real thrust of this attitude is that some people deserve delicious enjoyable food and some people don't. Some people are deserving and some are not. Some people are Saved and some people are sinners. It's hateful.
- "She's a bad cook" is real low hanging fruit and doesn't address the actual issue: They firmly believe that some people don't deserve food. This is a LONG established firmly held belief going back centuries. It's why you can't buy hot prepared food with SNAP in most states.
- Some grocery stores/restaurants work within those restrictions - you buy ingredients and then they cook it for you for $1, or there's a microwave you have access to, etc. The fundamental issue is that a lot of folks, folks in power, think some people don't deserve to eat.
- I'm reading Naomi Novik's "Temeraire" books bc some new social media pals are super into them. As with a lot of media, there's a bunch of fannish chatter about the simmering homoeroticism about to boil over between two characters... who sometimes stand around talking about their jobs.
- It's fine to have various head canons, queer or not, about media but I wish people wouldn't advertise stuff as being super queer when it isn't queer at all. Sorry, a bunch of nominally conventionally attractive 40 year olds playing 20 year olds sitting in the same room doesn't mean they're queer.
- Also please stop describing characters/actors as super hot, then drawing pictures of them w/smaller ears and reposting/resharing those smaller-eared pictures. Your blorbo has big jug ears and that's fine. Love him, love his ears. Don't make him "prettier." It's weird! You're weird for doing that!!
- FWIW, I'm enjoying the Temeraire books. Wm. Lawrence: would you marry me? Jane Rowland: lol, lmao even, no, why would I? The man's parents already think her illegitimate child is his.
- I need everyone to stop what you're doing RIGHT NOW and look at this tile. emutile.com/blogs/handma... And also send me money so I can purchase this tile.

- The, uh. The HTML guide on neopets is a really good one. www.neopets.com/help/html1.p...
- Reposted by Brigid Keely She/HerPublished in 1950, this was the first comic book series to feature typical romance stories with Black characters that largely avoided the ugly stereotyping that was very common in many comics of the era. #BlackHistoryMonth
- Reposted by Brigid Keely She/HerThe thing about Flash, and I say this as one of the honour guard of people who actually LOVED animating in Flash, is Flash had been hostile to animators since the beginning. Even in the Macromedia days, they told animators who asked for quality of life improvements they were using the program wrong
- Reposted by Brigid Keely She/HerI wish people would stop telling me to "just self publish" 🥲 I do! here's what the last comic I self published netted me: months of work for 120 reads and a tiny bit more than one month's rent. I'm grateful of course to everyone who did read it!! but it's not an answer. it's just a way to spend time
- Reposted by Brigid Keely She/Her😍 thank you @davidpowe.bsky.social, Divvy, and the crews that install & maintain the stations & fleet. a big deal for Pullman, Roseland, and the whole far south side. come down and see for yourself! the loop to old fashioned donuts at 113th/Michigan is now possible in 30 minutes via metra and divvy.

- Reposted by Brigid Keely She/Hersince I re-upped my blocks on one and don't know who the other guy even is, please know I'm saying this 100% with zero context of the details of this situation... but god is this a pattern I have seen a lot over the years, and have been thinking about even more over the past couple weeks.
- Reposted by Brigid Keely She/HerLike, I don't get it. I don't get how people refuse to understand that these men are actively demonstrating themselves to be unsafe, bragging about it, but it's always the women who are the wreckers for naming the obvious.
- Reposted by Brigid Keely She/HerI can look at how his behavior online with women is harassing, many women and in particular Black women warn that he is a harasser, how he is gleefully bragging about how he is going to infiltrate protest Signal chats he's been kept out of and... certainly that assessment seems to track.
- Reposted by Brigid Keely She/HerI'm not actually all that shocked to watch many of Old Twitter's most misogynistic and dogpile-happy "leftist" men all seem to be coalescing around the hot take of "harassment isn't as big a deal as this feminine labor network makes it out to be, actually"

- Maybe this is more telling of my dad than of dads in general, though.
- Reposted by Brigid Keely She/HerAstonishingly, he is at worst the second stupidest husband in horror adjacent fantasy. The hubby in The Bones dismisses his wife's warning about Occult Bad Stuff, despite having been saved from Occult Bad Stuff by her in the previous book.
- Reposted by Brigid Keely She/Herit's actually a really good political skill that Mamdani convinces people that this is true. I think American politicians, especially dems, really failed/forgot how to slap their names on shit and say that they did, they are why people are benefiting from X etc, even when that isn't strictly true.
- We're watching the "Fallout" finale and my child... they skrem. So much skrem. There is jumping and skremming.
- "ooOOOOOOHHHHHHHH SHIT" says my child, at the final scene.
- Reposted by Brigid Keely She/HerThis is bonkers. MAHA 'farmers' with ecoli tainted raw milk admit they really don't know how to make the stuff after all. "Producing raw milk takes careful planning from a facility and infrastructure standpoint. Unfortunately, we learned this after the fact." people.com/ballerina-fa...
- I was surprised by how much I liked this show and how engaged I was in it. The characters, and their relationship, are wonderful. They're so complex in such small quiet ways. It's an intimate story.
- www.gocomics.com/luann/2026/0... This is wildly, horrifically unprofessional.
- www.usatoday.com/story/news/p... They bought out movie theaters, right? To goose the numbers?
- Most of my dad's paternal side of the family came over from Ireland in the late 1850s. Like tracing my paternal grandfather and both of his parents, and their parents, and their various spouses, etc. it's pretty much all people who came here in the late 1850s. IDK about my paternal grandmother.
- On my mom's side I have ancestors who came over pre-revolutionary war. I could join DAR if I wanted to. There's facebook groups for those families and they are fucking WILD. Just INCREDIBLY classist. Buddy this happened TWO HUNDRED YEARS AGO, your ancestors being rich then doesn't matter.
- Interestingly on my mom's side of the family we've got family members who emigrated to Canada, founded a small town, married their cousins for a few generations, then moved to Wisconsin, then to Chicago.
- Reposted by Brigid Keely She/HerDem leadership: changing this is a difficult process, you fool. You rube. You utter infant. Give us between $5 and $50 Mamdani, wiping grease off his hands: So it turns out there's a switch on this machine that puts it into either orphan-shredding mode or free school lunch mode. Just had to flip it
- Reposted by Brigid Keely She/Heroh god what if you made a bot that scanned the site for wikipedia links and showed you the most linked to wikipedia entries every hour. you could do separate ones for every language's wikipedia so you could do a specific one for the anglosphere
- Reposted by Brigid Keely She/Herhey can y'all send me any resources on like, making bluesky feeds that you have? i have an idea i want to try out, i want to make a version of "popular with friends" that surfaces links and then drill down from there
