My sweet beagle Betty died today. She’s been in my family for about 12 yrs and she was about 3 yrs old when we got her. She was well loved, even by those who usually don’t like dogs. I’m happy she’s no longer in pain but I miss her terribly. I hope she’s getting lots of treats in the dog afterlife.
We recently lost a 13 yo papillon but our 16 yo girl is hanging on. Sorry for your loss ours was the same way. She stayed with us as long as she could.
I’m glad to know Betty wasn’t in lingering pain but is it difficult to process that she’s really gone.
I’m so sorry for your loss as well. It’s really hard when a pet is with you for so long - it becomes difficult to imagine life without them.
It is hard with all animals regardless of how long you were bonded with them. I lost my heart dog, a border collie, about 6 years ago and I still tear up when I think about her. But I don’t think of her all the time anymore. It gets easier with distance.
