- You simply cannot have a republic when some people have orders of magnitude more wealth than others. It is, at that point, no longer a polity of free and equal citizens, but of dominators and dominated.

- It’s revealing that men with any more than a modicum of access to power continually insist that pedophilia is not about harmful behavior, but thoughts and desires. Evidently, some people are anti-pedo for moral outrage, and some people are only anti-pedo to the extent that it makes them feel gross.

- Attraction to a prepubescent child is universally met with disgust, so these guys concede that point. But attraction to teenage girls has a vestigial social acceptability. No matter what harm teenage girls experience from sexual advances, these guys are fine with it because they don’t feel disgust.
- We know from political psychology that heightened perceptions of disgust are strongly associated with conservatism. The fact is that right-wing anti-pedophilia has no moral content. It is motivated by a purity/disgust response, not the desire to protect children.
