Works to help reactive, fearful, and aggressive dogs and their people.
- You can't say you're focused on changing a dog's feelings about triggers while only looking at a dog's behavior through the lens of behaviorism #dogtraining #dogbehavior
- A family dog with no interest in you or other members of your family is not a good thing. They may not jump up on you out of excitement -> not a good thing. They may not lick your face because they like you -> not a good thing. #familydog #dogtraining #dogbehavior
- They may stand politely next to you on a leash -> not a good thing.
- Stop using people with ADHD for your dog comparisons or at the very least, look at the actual research before doing it. Otherwise you're very likely just contributing to the demonization of medication and the biases about how ADHD presents that have caused so many people to go undiagnosed.
- Some people hear that I train dogs and start being meaner to their dogs. It feels like an effort to 'prove' something to me and it's horrible. Please don't do that. No one should be impressed by pushing dogs around, being 'stern' with them, yanking on them, yelling at them, etc.
- Dog trainings next big thing for all situations is...a box. Scent work? Dopamine box. Counter conditioning? Dopamine box. Protection sport? Dopamine box. Vet? Dopamine box. Acclimation? Dopamine box. Fearful dog? Dopamine box. Dog? Box. #dogtraining #pets #dogtrainingisweird #dogsofbluesky
- Most dogs have a really good 'stay' even if you never officially 'trained' it. It's called begging you for food while you're eating. #dogtraining #inadvertantlytrained #dogs
- Reposted by DeannaSnuffle Mats are great in your behavior modification journey! They give your dog something to focus on when exciting things happen (instead of barking) & allows them to forage during their meals. #positivedogtraining #rewardbasedtraining #dogsofbluesky #dogs #positivereinforcement #DogTraining
- It's crazy when the power goes out and the only sound you hear is tinnitus.
- Your dog's fear doesn't have to rise to the level of a phobia for them to deserve compassion and thoughtful training sessions in which they feel safe. #positivedogtraining #forcefreedogtraining #rewardbasedtraining #relationshipbasedtraining #fearfree #positivereinforcement #DogTraining
- If a balanced trainer tells you they only use tools on dogs that need them, look at their social media pictures. If you see every dog in a prong, e-collar, or slip lead, chances are they're just trying to get you to sign up. #dogtraining #dogs
- Imagine if we taught people to share by repeatedly grabbing their free sample at Costco as they lifted it, then returning it. Terrible idea, right? Then why put our hands in our dogs food bowl or take their stuff? It doesn't help resource guarding but it does create it #ResourceGuarding
- Dogs weren't made to lay on a raised bed and look nervous for however long we want them there. This should not be your gauge of a good trainer at an event and we need to do better for our dogs. #dogtraining #rewardbaseddogtraining #clevelandpetexpo #cooperationnotcoercion
- If your dog is scared of jumping off the dock or getting in the water, picking them up and putting them in the water isn't going to help. What it can do nicely is ruin the dock, their trust in you, AND their favorite toy, though. #fearfuldogs #dockdiving #cooperationnotcoercion #clevelandpetexpo
- Most big name dog training advertisements: First Clip: Look at this slightly naughty dog! Second Clip: Now he's sitting; truly, a miracle! Third Clip: Company name reminder Fourth Clip: Look! They're still cute, not traumatized from our 'training', closeup! Final clip: And they can still sit!
- ADHD is not your easy grab bag for comparison for dogs that can't calm down. It perpetuates a false idea of what ADHD looks like and furthers ideas that have led to many people, especially women, whose ADHD manifested differently being misdiagnosed and ignored.

- Ultrasonic bark collar? Ah, you mean my portable jump scare necklace.
- Dog daycare? Ohh you mean my daily free for all with twenty other dogs and minimum wage employees with no background in dog behavior just trying to survive and hosing everyone down if a fight breaks out. Because what's better enrichment than a group of strangers and chaos?
- There are good daycares out there, but they're small, non franchised entities run by people with a background in dogs. Ask what continuing education daycare workers get. Ask about how many dogs per area. Ask about how they break up fights. Ask about what they do for enrichment.
- And know that most daycares aren't a great option for helping your dog learn to socialize unless they fit the above criteria. More often dogs become reactive from the constant stimulation and boundary pushing of other dogs combined with the chaotic environment.
- A dog spending hours a day in front of the window, waiting to bark at something is not having fun. They're stressed out and constantly on watch. It affects the amount of sleep they get and the quality of that sleep, making them more prone to reactions in the future.
- If online activism wasn't working, sharing media wasn't working, and fact checking wasn't working, they wouldn't be getting rid of fact checking, trying to get subreddits banned, going after online users, and trying to control social media. #KeepProtesting #KeepSharing #KeepGoing
