- Reposted by PaulThe democrats won’t deliver anything but reform of ICE, not its abolition, not with Chuck in charge. They just want the killing force to kill properly & with regulations. The democrats love the police state. Whole party disposal service.
- Tried and true authoritarian playbook: 1) Label a “problematic” person or group a gang member/terrorist/criminal 2) Gov’t violates rights 3) Public largely looks the other way because of label 4) Damage is already done if later the courts/media expose the truth www.propublica.org/article/chic...
- Reposted by PaulAmid growing calls for the abolition of ICE, Rep. Delia Ramirez is calling for the entire DHS to be dismantled. Highlighting how much experience the officers who killed Renee Good and Alex Pretti had, Ramirez said, “DHS was built to violate our rights and has been empowered to act with impunity.”
- Reposted by PaulIt's impossible to express how it feels to repeatedly live through the exact same cycles over and over and over again. The reformers just consistently fucking everyone over.
- Reposted by PaulI keep seeing 'what can they do? they don't have the votes.' The answer is NOT THIS. It's actually better to NOTHING than to push this list of pathetic "reforms." It's better to do NOTHING than this.
- ICE are just cops with different badges. We don’t need either
- We have more than enough evidence that police reform (ie, more training, body worn cameras, better policies) does NOT work. It only makes them better resourced and better at justifying violence and killing. Same applies to ICE, CBP and DHS. Abolition is the answer.

- Reposted by PaulI don't post about it much (vs how often I think about it) but the harm Rahm Emanuel caused Chicago as mayor is something people trying to do good work here -or simply exist- are CONSTANTLY contending with. Like when he closed half the mental health clinics. [2018 story] beltmag.com/fixing-chica...
- Reposted by Paul"the police have long functioned as an army against dissident social movements. The police are the first line of defense against strikes and left-wing protests, while often serving as a cordon to protect Klansman, Nazis, and the alt-right."
- Reposted by PaulWe tried to explain that criminalization is the fuel of fascism.

- Reposted by PaulI think the history of police reform provides a very clear cut counter example
- Reposted by PaulCop “unions” are a repulsive stain on the American labor movement, and it’s truly an embarrassment that so few labor leaders are willing to admit that. www.teenvogue.com/story/what-t...
- Reposted by PaulI'm in my mid-50s. I started organizing against the violence of policing when I was a teenager. I've heard ALL of the so-called "reform" proposals. They are the SAME ONES that liberals are offering in 2026. Cops have never killed more people in my lifetime. Gotta do something different.
- Reposted by PaulThe calls for local police to protect people from ICE really feel like a rejection of the Movement for Black Lives. The demand was to defund and it still applies.
- Reposted by PaulA soft, small, hopeful thing.
- Reposted by PaulIf Vallas were Mayor, the Tribune Editorial board would be petitioning that he be declared a saint on this alone. Instead they continue their copaganda crusades against Brandon.
- Reposted by PaulI don’t mean to sound extreme, but I don’t think we should have torture camps for people with criminal records either.
- Reposted by PaulWritten by Biden, signed by Bill Clinton, with Hilary campaigning for it across the country, warning about (black) children turning into "super predators" that world require extreme measures to hold in prison. And they never stepped away from it for a second. They love sending people to prison.
- Reposted by PaulThis month I have to: - surprise 12 formerly incarcerated mamas at the local safehouse with $500 each! - sponsor the annual Christmas musical at the prison for the women housed there - donate our final donation of menstrual products to the parish prison To help us: tpfwoman2woman.funraise.org
- Reposted by PaulThe proposed Chicago city budget has a $5 million line item for a ShotSpotter replacement. Abandoning this failed pursuit would free up the funds needed to maintain 2025 funding levels at our city libraries, which would still leave the libraries underfunded but would avoid disastrous proposed cuts.
- Reposted by PaulThis is completely expected from dems. “Fund unmasked police”
- Reposted by PaulA genuinely horrible idea.
- It’s almost as if Democrats came up with all the policies that they are now criticizing Trump for (and fundraising off of)
- Or how Democrats wrote the 94 Crime Bill leading to mass racialized incarceration on steroids?
- Or how Democrats led “welfare reform”?
- Or how Democrats led the charge for rounding up unsheltered people through encampment sweeps, arresting ppl for crimes of poverty and trashing ppl’s most treasured belongings?
- Or how Democrats have written blank checks to police departments serving as ICE’s bodyguards because, as Joe Biden said, they think they’re role is to “FUND, FUND, FUND” the police?
- Or how Democrats wrote blank checks to ICE and CBP in the name of border security?
- Is it too soon to talk about the role Democrats played in getting ICE contracts for detention centers in rural communities in the name of jobs?
- Reposted by PaulAll the ink spilled on the crisis of young men and meanwhile young women are like 'yeah, I'd love to ditch this popsicle stand' and it's crickets.

- Reposted by PaulSchumer isn't afraid of Dem voters. People can yell *primary* all they want as the Federal government becomes more fascist over time. There is no organized movement against the Democratic party. There's the fascists and their enablers (the Democratic party). Perhaps this would be the final straw.
- Reposted by PaulChicago Public Library's budget cuts would mean losing HALF of the materials budget. It would mean losing 90 staff members. Cop budget's fine, though.

- The same people who mistakenly think the police are gonna be on our side are the same people who have been cheerleading Dems giving unlimited power and resources to cops under the guise of ‘reform’

- An insult to cucks honestly
- Reposted by PaulI am happy that more people see that the police state is a BIPARTISAN project.
- Reposted by PaulA group of Chicago cops have been accused of bullying witnesses into falsely implicating suspects, & threatening to separate people from children if they didn’t provide favorable testimony. But prosecutors are failing to take a meaningful look back at people convicted bc of their testimonies:

[B]etween 2015 and 2024, police killed 191 children. Black children like Terrell [Miller] are six times more likely to be killed by police than white children."
- Reposted by PaulYep. And one thing that really stands out to me is how unfamiliar Americans are with the prison system in general They are appalled at the conditions in immigrant detention centers (justifiably) But every single single story has mirrored something a prison inmate has been saying for decades

- Reposted by PaulThat Pritzker press conference was... surreal, and I think marks a significant moment of escalation in the constitutional omni-crisis. This was the governor of a state saying plainly the Union itself is being torn apart and his state is being militarily invaded by an authoritarian regime.
