Friends of Portland Street Response
As Friends of PSR, we are united in our unequivocal support for the original goals of PSR & specific actions needed to restore & support the program. #SavePSR friendsofpsr.com
- Reposted by Friends of Portland Street ResponseThank you! I'm committed to working with the Mayor, who generally IS a strong supporter of PSR, to get this right.
- We appreciate @councilorkanal.bsky.social raising concerns with rhetoric from @mayorkwilson.bsky.social telling Portlanders to call 911 and ask for PSR anytime they see someone experiencing homelessness. This is not PSR's mission & a troubling scope creep that could undermine the program's success.
- PSR are an unarmed, police alternative, first response team assisting people experiencing a mental or behavioral health crisis. They are primarily designed to take 911 calls that previously would have been dispatched to an armed police officer to provide a more effective, compassionate response.
- By taking these calls, PSR frees up police to respond to higher level emergencies – increasing response times. That is, if PSR is adhering to it's original mission. This is something we will continue to monitor.
- “PSR likely wouldn’t have been able to respond to this call because it involved a person inside a building, rather than on a street or other publicly-accessible outdoor area.” As PSR expands to 24/7 as promised next year, City leaders should continue to expand where PSR is allowed to respond.
- “The proposed Department of Community Safety would send mental health teams to respond to 911 calls, rather than the police.” @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social you are welcome to come to Portland anytime to learn all about Portland Street Response!
- Reposted by Friends of Portland Street ResponseIt was inspiring to hear the difference Portland Street Response is making in the lives of those most vulnerable in our city at the East Portland PSR Town Hall. In the short period since PSR has scaled up their programs, more Portlanders are receiving the right responder at the right time.

- Reposted by Friends of Portland Street ResponseTomorrow: Portland Street Response is holding a town hall at the East Portland Community Center from 6-7:30 pm! You'll have the chance to hear program updates and have the opportunity to ask questions. More info:
- This coming Tue, Nov. 18th from 6:00pm - 7:30pm, the City of Portland will be hosting an in person Portland Street Response Town Hall at the East Portland Community Center (740 SE 106th Ave) We encourage PSR supporters to show up - learn more about PSR's status, ask questions, and express concerns.
- Policies that criminalize poverty are cruel, wasteful investments for addressing homelessness and can make it harder for those living unhoused to access the services they need. It can be a traumatic experience that can cause more of the mental health crises PSR was established to respond to.

- When City leadership is finally catching up to public demand for an expanded Portland Street Response — it’s unfortunate the Portland Police Association is attacking some of PSR’s biggest champions on Council. Every 911 call does not require a police response, and PSR is part of the solution.
- The latest controversy on Councilor Dan Ryan — the only current elected official who has voted against the expansion of Portland Street Response multiple times. We believe District 2 wants to invest more in PSR and less on controversial right wing podcasters.
- Reposted by Friends of Portland Street ResponseToday, I joined a Portland Street Response ride-along in District 1 to see firsthand the vital work this team does every day—responding to mental health crises, supporting unhoused neighbors, and offering compassionate care where it’s needed most.

- "The Portland City Council approved a resolution Wednesday to strengthen the Portland Street Response (PSR) program. The resolution will support and provide policy guidance to establish PSR as a co-equal branch of the city's modern public safety system."
- The adopted PSR Resolution: 💚 Establishes PSR as a Co-Equal Branch ⌚ Commits to Expanding PSR 24/7 🔍 Establishes Community Committee 💙 Re-establishes Access to Supplies 📞 Expands Exploration of Call Types ❌ Ensures PSR is Not Used in Enforcement Activities 📈 Re-establishes Independent Evaluation

- Today is a big day for the future of PSR. Please come out and support the resolution at 1:30pm at City Hall, wearing PSR blue & green!
- 95% of Portlanders submitting comments have expressed support for tomorrow's resolution in support of Portland Street Response – which provides the policy guidance & community input that will re-establish trust & 24/7 commitment. Take a moment and add your support: www.portland.gov/council/writ...
- We’ve heard some Councilors are concerned about the resolution establishing a *long promised* community advisory committee. PSR was created by community for community, and lost trust as they moved decision making behind closed doors. Let’s restore trust and establish this overdue oversight!
- ACTION ALERT! Council will meet this Wednesday, June 25 at 1:30 p.m. to vote on a key resolution regarding PSR. We need you to testify and write in support! If you are able to show up to City hall at 1:30pm please wear PSR 🩵 blue and 💚 green! Visit linktr.ee/friendsofpsr to take action!
