- ACCELERATIONISM A DIGITAL LECTURE AND DISCUSSION SUNDAY, JULY 27TH AT 4PM EST patreon.com/aretheygay
- People think that accelerationism is about letting everything get really bad until things get so bad that suddenly the Revolution™ happens. That's not what it is. It is a philosophy about reclaiming technological and social development and repurposing it toward radical ends.
- During this Town Hall, we'll discuss why the left has turned against technology, the dangers of uncritically reifying the past, nostalgia as a symptom of social failure, what role accelerationism plays in left wing philosophy, and what a genuinely radical technological/social future could look like.
- You might’ve heard about right wing tech figures like Peter Thiel and Curtis Yarvin. Or maybe Trump’s destruction of democracy & Project 2025. Maybe radical philosophies like accelarationism. But how does it all come together? What are the links? This video covers it all. youtu.be/olhu9UhFGl4?...
- How Tech Bros Hijacked the Government A feature length treatise on techno fascism and the future. For my favorite platform, BlueSky :)
- .
- So do people still think I’m a fan of Curtis Yarvin? Because that was pretty funny.
- For the record, I someone should **** ***
- I would love nothing more than the AI hype bubble popping, the death of big closed proprietary models, and for AI development to fall back in the hands of small transgender Marxist furry open source developers
- Bring back the “information wants to be free” tech bros who are secretly girls
- AI isn’t profitable? Great! Fuck you!
- I want to address the weird telephone rumor that I only made the AI video because “I got called out for using genAI to read quotes my Hamilton video.” I literally read every single quote in that video.
- What people are referring to is me using ElevenLabs to have presidents read three Zizek quotes in my Hannah Montana video (because it’s funny). BUT to offset this, the rest of the quotes in the video are read by PAID voice actors.
- I have paid voice actors several hundred dollars in the past for voice overs on previous videos. The use of fake presidents to read three quotes in the Hannah Montana video was the only time I have ever used generative AI on my YouTube channel.
- Also it’s not typical for video essay people to pay voice actors for quote readings. We usually do it ourselves or do it for each other (unpaid, but the favor is usually returned).
- Reposted by Alexander AvilaMy overall point is made in the video: practically, the *expansion* of copyright in this case would not fix the problem of displacement and consolidate power in the hands of bad actors. I believe training should be considered fair use (with that caveat that outputs CAN be infringement in specific
