I knew I wanted to tell reporters elsewhere how even this most hopeless of times has been clarifying and, in some ways, energizing. (1) share.google/ms1wKDQZmgep...

The second is simply "Jesus wept." Astonishing thing for a judge to do.

- Reposted by Naomi KruegerDHS has a whole citizen detainment system set up in Minnesota. They snatch citizens off the street (often with proof they are citizens), detain them for a few hours, steal their phones, then release them into the cold. It ain’t about deporting citizens; it’s about terrorizing a whole population.

- Reposted by Naomi Kruegeri am really romantic about mutual aid, and seeing everyday folks spring into action over the last two months has made me so proud to be a minnesotan. simultaneously, the need is huge right now, especially with rent due february 1. this would be a good time to donate if you have the means.
- Calling everyone "activists" or "protesters" is as absurd as calling a person who signs up for a meal train for a sick friend an activist. Or calling a person who calls 911 when their neighbor's house is on fire a protester. These are Good Samaritans, friends, and neighbors helping each other out.
- The original poster deleted their post, but it was essentially critiquing a major media outlet for calling those providing mutual aid protesters and activists. Words hold so much meaning and they matter to how we perceive reality!

- Reposted by Naomi KruegerBeautiful people, beautiful city I need everyone to understand that this is happening everywhere, all the time here. It's not isolated. Entire communities plan their days around helping neighbors who need assistance. There's no central organizing for it all; it's hundreds of independent networks.

- Mine is a tie between A Wrinkle in Time and The Giver. Both books changed me and stuck with me and have been reread multiple times in various stages of life. I think about these stories often when I'm feeling afraid of the world and they give me courage and hope.

- The reason you're mainly hearing about what's happening with ICE in Mpls and St. Paul, and not suburbs or rural areas is because of the decimation of community newspapers and dedicated journalists. ICE is everywhere but journalists are mostly concentrated in one place. There aren't enough of them.
- Reposted by Naomi KruegerBrooklyn Park police chief Mark Bruley: "We're hearing people being stopped with no cause & being demanded to show paperwork to determine if they're here legally. - Reposted by Naomi KruegerA small note: terrible things are happening in Minneapolis. But also in Saint Paul. And in the suburbs. And though most of the push is in the metro, things are happening all over the state. I've been trying to refer to the events as happening in the Twin Cities or in Minnesota.

- Spent the evening watching Charlie's Angels and Ghost Busters with a sleeping dog on my lap. 10/10 would recommend for nervous system regulation.
- ICE is in residential neighborhoods. So there are naturally babies and children and bystanders present because we don't just hide in our houses here in Minnesota. We are free people with lives to live. And the federal government is making that dangerous.
- Hearing helicopters over your city is not usually a good sign.
- Reposted by Naomi KruegerThere are reports of a shooting involving federal law enforcement in north Minneapolis. We will be updating our live blog at the MN Star Tribune as we get more info. Please consider following local sources during breaking news situations, we are familiar with the area in a way national media isn't.
- If you're a children's author, it may be tempting to write a picture book about what's happening in current events right now. It's generally not a good idea. We don't know how things will end and a book you write now, won't publish for 2-3 years minimum. 1/
- It's better to let things settle, figure out what themes and societal changes emerge, and write about that. I've acquired and edited PBs inspired by Covid times, but weren't about being stuck inside or sick b/c of Covid. Instead, they are about creativity, imagination, play, and big feelings. 2/
- Let the current moment form you and your work, but that doesn't necessarily mean writing about events that are happening. This is not a call for submissions. Just my two cents as a children's book editor. 3/3
- Reposted by Naomi KruegerJane Graupman, executive director of the International Institute of Minnesota, said refugees are reporting no access to legal representation, no explanation of the allegations against them and no clear process. She said in nearly 40 years of resettlement work, she's never seen anything like it.
- Reposted by Naomi KruegerPeople who aren't in Minnesota might not know that if you drive or walk past pretty much any school, there's going to be a group of people, parents and childless, standing guard to make sure the kids are safe from feds. It's pretty remarkable. And very disturbing. www.mprnews.org/story/2026/0...
- There are not enough journalists or local news outlets in Minnesota to adequately cover what is going on with ICE in communities across this state. The news you are seeing is just a small fraction.
- Things are really bad here in Minnesota. And now Trump is coming for refugees who have permanent legal status. They are the most vetted and most vulnerable of all immigrants. Just heard from a credible source about ICE disappearing a Karen mother of 4, the youngest still breastfeeding.
- ICE is not just wreaking havoc in Minneapolis, but in the suburbs too. And I can tell you that the suburbs are organizing. It's bleak and scary, but ordinary people across generations are finding was to resist and support their neighbors all over the metro area.

- When will we start to actually value children? Children are not property or pets. They are not in a perpetual state of childhood. They are whole humans in the beginning stages of their lives. They deserve quality health care, education, and safety. It's not just up to parents to provide that.
- Reposted by Naomi KruegerI have thought about this a lot and I think one of the most effective ways to make the world a better place immediately is to stop children from being abused.
