- Reposted by Kaitlin Is Just Getting StartedPlain and simple my politics is that nobody should be wealthy enough to make their insecurities my problem.
- He looked at me with so much pity when I talked about electoral politics and ugggggghhhhhhhh
- Reposted by Kaitlin Is Just Getting StartedThis is Georgia Fort's website — the independent journalist also arrested today for covering the anti-ICE protest, along with Don Lemon. Donations to her page support her journalism — and I'm sure now her legal defense for doing that journalism.
- 😭😭😭😭
- Reposted by Kaitlin Is Just Getting StartedNo one is going to buy that Bluesky is transparent when your leadership continues to troll marginalized users and ban community leaders under false pretext.

- I went to bed shortly after this post and I just woke up to see the end of the Sinner/Djokovic match…less cursed tournament than I thought
- Reposted by Kaitlin Is Just Getting StartedJuno needs to pay rent in two days! Please help if you can.
- And yet my body keeps waking me up after 5.5/6 hours and my migraines have now added appetite-suppressing nausea to my daily life…and then I’m still mad at myself for not being productive 🤪
- Reposted by Kaitlin Is Just Getting StartedAnother link to help ICE detainees after they are released. Melinda is legit so I'm comfortable with her endorsement. Sorry I don't have more time to do the vetting myself today. bsky.app/profile/meli...

- Reposted by Kaitlin Is Just Getting StartedSome thoughts: 1. The deadline for nominating a person or group for the Nobel Peace Prize is Feb. 1. 2. History professors are qualified nominators. 3. The people of Minnesota have been awe-inspiringly peaceful in the face of state violence. 4. He would be so mad.
- Reposted by Kaitlin Is Just Getting StartedPosting this as the VERIFIED GoFundMe for Keith Porter Jr. Thank you, @gotmyniinaa.bsky.social www.gofundme.com/f/support-fo...
- Reposted by Kaitlin Is Just Getting StartedMy neighbor, a single mother of two in South Minneapolis, was abducted today and everything about it is heartbreaking. There is an immediate (and steep) financial need for lawyer costs. I know there are so, so many of these right now, but please consider this dear family: gofund.me/9516b14f7
- Reposted by Kaitlin Is Just Getting StartedIf you’re feeling helpless amidst the ongoing horrors being perpetrated by ICE… engage in mutual aid. Donate to someone in need. Give to a community library or food bank. You could also help Rodney Taylor, a disabled double amputee who’s been held by ICE for a year. His story is often forgotten:
- There is going to be a whole month for this, might as well start early
- “Outside agitators” is older than Putin; I am begging white people to crack open a history book about Black Americans for once
- Reposted by Kaitlin Is Just Getting StartedNo preview sucks so here is the post with alt text.
- Hey, everything is terrible, but I went to see my friends in the hospital today—the first time since they got married in my living room. They’re still going through it, and I’m doing what I can to help. If you can spare a dollar for them, please do. And if you can’t, please spare a thought.
- I think a lot these days about Charles Sumner and Preston Brooks and the caning in the Senate. First: That Brooks was a House rep who went to the Senate chamber and beat a Senator with no interference Second: That even though Sumner spent years recuperating, he was returned to the Senate regardless
- Sumner would survive the war and be instrumental in passing the Reconstruction amendments and scuttling the first proposed mass amnesty bill under Section 3/14A. Brooks died suddenly and painfully before the war broke out at 37 years old. Almost as if standing on principle is rewarded.
- “Prices will be lower when you’re dead” is not quite the selling point elected Dems think it is
- Pressing Schumer to act: tired Pressing Schumer to resign: wired
- In times of crisis, people will show you who they are, and the greatest threat to resolving the crisis is forgetting what they said about themselves
- Memory is a fragile thing in this moment, so it is important to keep in mind that Hakeem Jeffries refused to whip his caucus against ICE funding earlier this week.
- The People, united, will never be defeated.
- As someone who has been confronted with amateur snuff films and graphic imagery of Black suffering since childhood, I am telling you that you don’t need to watch. If you have a soul, the description will be enough.
- They took photos of lynchings and turned them into postcards. You do not need to haunt yourself like that.

- Reposted by Kaitlin Is Just Getting StartedHis family wants to do memorial services in Minneapolis and in Wisconsin where he was born and will be buried. If you've felt grief, if you've comforted people in grief, please help these folks. (My own mother died this morning. If you were gonna bring me a hot dish, please give here instead.)
- Reposted by Kaitlin Is Just Getting StartedWhat I’ve learned from being taught Black history from childhood is that It Did Happen Here. Not only have Black people lived under fascist structures for the vast majority of US history, but the Confederacy was the forerunner of fascist ideology and antidemocratic efforts before Europe tried.
- I don’t know if I’d call this opinion woke, but it’s definitely common. At the core, it’s just the manifestation of the reality that Black people don’t principally want a harmonic existence with white people, we want to be free.
- White people complaining about Black people wanting lives away from a white supremacist society are telling on themselves
- It sounds like a bleating goat crossed with air brakes
