After washing and blocking, this shawl surprised me again: the fabric opened up into something I hadn’t fully anticipated. Light, airy, and almost weightless - as if it could take flight.
The colours stayed crisp, the stitches clear, but the whole shawl felt transformed.
#knitting #shawlknittingThat’s when the name came to me: Kryla - wings. in Ukrainian.
I already wrote the pattern and opened the test for it! If you're interested, please follow this link:
www.yarnpond.com/pattern_test...Finding the right way to end a project can be surprisingly tricky.
I tested several options for this bind-off, and none of them felt quite right until this one. What do you think? Is it regal enough?👑
🧶
#shawlknitting #knittingIt’s an unusual technique, combining i-cord and picots but it echoes the rest of the shawl beautifully.
Sometimes, the right match isn’t what you expect 😁
I thought I was being efficient: reuse the same stitches, keep it simple.🧶
Turns out the shawl had other plans. This border makes it bold, layered, almost regal, don't you agree?✨
#knitting #shawlknittingI wish I could say I saw this coming, but really, I just followed the knitting. Sure it surprised me!
And I’m deeply grateful that this shawl, made for Ukraine, turned out this way. It feels like the knitting knew how important it was.
There’s something very satisfying about seeing the stitch pattern take shape, especially when texture and color start working together like this.
I’ve been experimenting with dip stitches and a lace motif over Echo garter, and it’s finally behaving the way I hoped it would.
#knitting #shawlknittingI’m loving how the colors play together, holding each other up row after row.🧶
Bonus: when you roll it up, it looks like a sunflower. Totally unplanned, but I’ll take it. 🌻
Release day!🧶

I restarted this shawl for the third time, but I think that now I nailed it!
The shape looks good and I love how neater the center stitch looks and how the zigzags seamlessly merge into it. I modified also the little loops at the top of the zigzags to make them bigger and cleaner. Let's go! 🧶
Ok, last week I started this shawl for the second time and I was really surprised to see that I achieved a triangular shaped shawl with half the increases I'd normally used. So I continued happily knitting the shawl and didn't think to check whether everything was going fine. 🧶
#shawlknittingToday I had a doubt and... 😡arghhh 🤬! This is NOT a triangle!
Now I'll have to frog the entire thing and start again. This time I'm going to try with 6 increases every 4 rows. Let's hope I'll get it right this time!
This looks much better!
It seems that I achieved a triangular shape with half the increases I would normally have: just 4 every 4 rows. That's so strange! 🧶
Anyway, I'll continue and see what happens. Wish me good luck!🤞
#knitting #shawlknittingNot a great time for my knitting 🧶 lately...
Anyway, after a bit of swatching, planning and charting I started working on my new shawl. But... I wanted a triangular shawl! I followed the usual "recipe" with lateral and central increases, why it looks so strange?
The shape is definitely not what I wanted to achieve. Maybe it's the way the garter stitch is worked that results in a larger and shorter than usual fabric...mmmhhh, now I have to frog, re-chart and start again from zero🤬

Taraxacum is a top-down semicircular shawl started with an i-cord tab, then shaped by increases alternatively positioned after the branches/lines of slipped stitches. Lateral i-cords give a finished look with no effort.

Swatching for my new design... what do you think?

Faccio campioni per il mio nuovo design.. che ne pensate?

#knitting #swatching #istandwithukraineThe mitts are finished, the pattern is written and the test is open!🎉🧶
This is a small, quick, and fun project to make and the mitts are lovely: so squishy and warm!

#knitting #testknittingWorking on the second mitt with reversed colors... fun. isn't it?🧶
I'm already writing the pattern and I'm planning to open the test soon, so if you're interested keep an eye on this profile and/or Yarnpond😉
.
#knitting #cableknittingAnd the first mitt is ready!🎉
I think to knit the second one inverting the colors, to have the cable design made with the darker blue. What do you think?
🧶🧶🧶
#knitting #cableknittingI started working on a new pair of fingerless mitts!🧶
#knittingI like fingerless mitts because they keep my hands warm, but they don't prevent me from scrolling through the news on my phone, writing, drawing, and generally maintaining my sense of touch. I need them also when I knit, because warm hands knit faster!
Wearing my handmade items is like wrapping myself in happiness!
🧶
#knitting #shawlknittingMonochromatic isn’t exactly my style. I love bold contrasts and vibrant combinations, but every now and then, I find myself creating single-color designs.🧶 Interestingly, this tends to happen mostly with warm-weather projects.
#knitting #shawlknitting #laceknittingMaybe it’s because, in summer pieces, I want the lace stitches to take center stage without any distractions. And I think I achieved just that. I love my summer lace shawls!
Pictured here are my Radianza stole and my Delicate Balance shawl. And you? What do you like to knit for the warmer months?
