- Mt. Umunhum is the 4th tallest peak in the Santa Cruz Mountains. It is named for the Ohlone word meaning “nesting place of the hummingbird.” The peak was used by Ohlone peoples for ceremonies keeping their culture alive after forced colonization by Jesuit missionaries backed by the Mexican Army.
