- Made some really flavorful rice today, for the rest of my curry because I ran out of the pre-packaged stuff. Rinsed my rice for the first time today too 🫣 And then also stumbled upon this great YT video on whether or not you should be doing that: youtu.be/B3CHsbNkr3c
- What made it so flavorful, is that I added in a teaspoon of bouillon mixture, Himalayan pink salt, and a tablespoon of butter. And then I microwaved a package of mixed vegetables to put that in for some more nutrition, if I just wanted to eat a bowl of it like I did this morning lol.
- Now, none of this sounds like a big deal. But I physically have not been able to do this for 5 years. So being able to make something so simple taste good, feels really good, and reminds me of my healthier days when I could spend time making my food. Now off to sleep for the next 2 days straight
- lol 😭 (I just got I don't know how many hours of sleep the past few days. The fatigue has been unreal, even despite coming off of the nortriptyline.)
- My hair is *finally* getting longer! 🤩
- I think rejecting these injections is outright stupid. But I will say this: as someone who regularly injects vitamin B12, and I have injected B12 from several different countries now, the US really needs to clean up its injectables. For some reason, Europe has figured out how to make
- B12 injections with only two ingredients: B12 and saline. Every single US version has 18 different preservatives in it. WHY? We know it can be done better, so why aren't we doing better?
- All right, so as is typical after an abdominal surgery, I generally check to make sure that the machinery still works. 😈 What sort of took me by surprise, is that some long-standing sexual dysfunction seems to have resolved itself. I had seen men in the group talk about
- sexual dysfunction related to vascular compressions such as nutcracker and May-Thurner, but didn't give it much thought. Not too many women talk about it, bc when we bring up these issues, it gets blamed on anxiety, stress, pelvic floor dysfunction, etc, and we get shuttled off
- to expensive pelvic floor physical therapy which generally does nothing and is just a Band-Aid for a deeper problem. We don't ever ask the questions of why the pelvic floor is malfunctioning. Is it due to incorrect blood flow? Due to nerve damage? Etc. Well, while fixing May-Thurner
-
View full threadvascular compression syndromes for you... specifically the two I mentioned...there may be a link. Don't throw in the towel just yet. Things can get better. I do have some nerve damage close to the area from the surgery itself, which is what led me to check sooner than I normally would.
- Fight this. I guarantee it's going to be a gateway to getting rid of universal healthcare all together and transferring to a private only system, like what the US has. You don't want this system, trust me. My last CT scan was $7,000, and ins is refusing to pay.
- When you look like the stereotype of a scientist. 🤪
- "Ashley, you don't really go around in public looking like that do you?" I think people would be very surprised how I've looked in public a few times 🤣
- Made this vegan curry in my instant pot tonight! Hope that red curry paste that's been opened for 8 months in my fridge is still okay lolol. pinchofyum.com/instant-pot-...
- Also, be aware that some red curry pastes do have shrimp in there, which would obviously make it not vegan. Just something to be aware of!
- Also, I think this recipe is very disability and chronic illness friendly, because it is basically a dump and run kind of meal. (and then just use microwave rice or whatever if you want that.) Curries are sort of my favorite. 🥰
- Has anyone here discontinued nortriptyline? I'm on the lowest dose of 10 mg, and I was told I can just stop it. I've been on it for two or three years I think? We are trying to figure out if I do have a little bit of pots or if this medication has increased my heart rate. Literature says
- it can increase it by 10 to 15 BPM 😬 And I do remember that when I started it, that's when the heart rate problems started getting out of control. But I dealt with it, because it was providing some minor pain relief. But it's at the point now where it is really uncomfortable, especially at rest,
- and we need to figure out if this medication is causing the problem. I could go slower by taking it every other night, and then every third night, and then ditching it. But honestly, after not taking it last night and my heart rate has been a little calmer? I sort of just want to stop it lol
- And when I ate my meal tonight, my heart rate only went up to 95 versus the usual 110-120 after a meal which is EXTRA annoying.
